My beautiful BMT, What's next?

Post by Redpat »

So I've had my C63 blue marine just a few days and I'm totally taken with it. I was planning for this to be my everyday wear but find myself looking for another to rotate alongside this one. Even to the point where I went to Kents biggest shopping centre today and couldn't find anything I liked enough to seriously consider buying.
I think the CWs just seem to be a great concoction of solid build quality, great looks and functionality on top of being just great value. I looked at a couple of pieces from other brands that were considerably more pricey than my BMT but seemed on a par at best but a little uninspiring, leaving me feeling quite flat. Am I missing something?
So, I love the bronze tridents and Aquitaines as well as the trident pro but again keep circling back towards the super compressor (not the elite). I have an 8" wrist so apparently, anything goes.
Damn you CW. 😆
Cheers

@Redpat

All sorted. 8)

The watch looks perfect for you!

You could certainly post that in Gallery and Reference Gallery without the comments.

Thanks @Amor Vincit Omnia. Perhaps that's why today, nothing else came close to feeling like this one does. It feels like I've hit the nail on the head first time. A bit like someone who has a global smash hit song with their first release and spends years trying to get another hit.

The watch looks great on your wrist, I'm surprised by how well proportioned it appears on your 8" wrist. Mine is 8.25" and most watches smaller than 42mm look too small for my preference. Your pic makes me reconsider that, there's obviously much more to how large a watch appears on wrist than the case size, including relative bezel and dial sizes, lug to lug, etc. Enjoy your Blue Marine in the best of health!

I was eyeing this up a couple of months ago. It looks amazing but too expensive for me unfortunately. Great purchase

@Jacko75 thanks, appreciate that. Yes it was pricey but I went the extra few quid because it had all the features of far more expensive models from other manufacturers at a fraction of the cost. Hence why I want another to rotate it with to try and slow down any premature wear.
@audio.bill yeah I thought I'd need a 42-48mm but I think that my wrist size may be in depth rather than width as I weight train and do quite a bit of combat type sports. If I stopped I imagine my wrists might lose a bit of size. Thanks.

You might find that having a narrow bezel makes a difference. Your 41mm BMF is mostly watch, and can look bigger as a result, depending on what you wore before.

If you get a diver there might be 7mm of bezel around a 34mm dial and consequently the watch might well feel smaller.

I find 41mm a sweet spot. 43mm is just a tiny bit more, but actually feels big, and 44mm is getting to be too big.

Going the other way, I have very little under 40mm and those watches feel small. It's took time to get this way though. I was used to a vintage 34mm onega, owned from new, and the first time I wore a 39mm dressy watch it felt really big. Now that 39mm feels normal to small.

I imagine I could get used to wearing 36mm watches again, but I just don't want to do that.

Hi @JAFO , judging by the new release coming on the 1st, I guess I'll be trying a 40mm. 😂. I can't imagine there will be a great deal of difference to my BMT. I'm guessing that thin bezel will still add to a perception of being a larger watch in comparison!
I think I have a thing for blue watches too, surely that's some kind of sub category watch fetish.
Thanks

Welcome to the quandary of CW ownership.

Many other watches / brands of similar quality are more expensive.

You're not throwing money away in buying them as they'll be worth more in 3 years time if you sell. Snag is CW watches are such good value it's hard to pass them up. :-k. :-k

@Bahnstormer_vRS I'd never really felt ot thought about my BMT purchase in terms of long term reward, I was more focused on the initial outlay and the value it represents. Your comment does raise a new line of thinking though, do CWs hold their value well over the medium to long term when compared to the aforementioned similar products? My knowledge is non existent In watch terms. I'm sure you long term fans have a fair idea in this respect.

Better than a fair idea, Pat.

DYR and have a browse of the Archive Resale Section

Click on any model in the search and it will give you chapter and verse.

Like any other brand desirability is king. The more desirable the model the more it will fetch on the secondary market. If you take a flyer on a model and end up turning it around you won't lose your shirt on resale. But then again, you aren't paying through the nose to begin with so there is that. It hurts a little more if you pay $10k for a watch and it is worth $5k when your feet touch the street outside the store.

I think there's probably quite a few of us who would like to own more CWs. I think there's two issues, the potential number of watches, and unfortunately the potential cost.

In the C65s alone, I could have had the world timer, and black gold, and I think the super compressor is a C65 as well.

There's various moonphases. I could have had the abyss, and that's not to mention the C60 pro 300s and all the other newer releases.
