What’s ahead in 2025?
Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
When I look at the Lumiere I find myself conflicted.
Some days I think I'd really like one and then on another day I'm ambivalent.
Design wise, I think they did a great job of bringing modern materials and elements to a traditional dive watch to make something not really seen before.
What i can't decide on a regular basis is whether it's design will stand up in a year or two or if they've started a trend that will continue to be developed and become a basis for future models from across the watch world.
Obviously other makes are offering Lume that's fairly similar but to combine it with titanium and the dials that they have, all the while keeping the price reasonable is a real achievement and regardless of personal feelings, it's a brave move by CW and clearly shows their intentions and abilities for the future. I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing where they go next.

Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
Personally, I'm designing a new watch drawer as we speak (based on an Ikea body so nothing too crazy). I already have 3 watch boxes and it turns out that they are not enough. Truth be told, one box is just with my old quartz watches, and another is just a 3 slot, so things are not really that bad, but still, I'm at 13 'serious' watches currently and have 2 more in the pipeline that should arrive during 2025. So at this point I'm getting really picky with expensive purchases and looking more and more at interesting microbrands releases (e.g. Mr Jones, Haim Viajero).
In terms of CW specifically, I'm a real fan of Bel Canto, so if they release a new style of it I might not be able to resist, depending on what exactly they change, but hopefully this will not happen too soon. I'm also looking forward to see the new release from the balance wheel teaser, but I secretly hope I won't like it since I don't want to spend too much on high end watches and I'm quite happy with my current collection. But you know how it goes, some things are just too tempting to pass.
As for other brands, on Black Friday I was almost ready to get the Mr Jones Indefatigable Sphinx, which actually has a CW jumping hour movement in it, but I couldn't convince myself that it's worth €2500, even with its unique and tempting design. But if they do another discount and it gets to about €2000, I will most definitely get one. Other than that, I'm keeping a constant eye on microbrands, I feel a lot of them have started to step up their game and there are many good quality watches with innovative design popping up.

Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
I am hoping that this will be a year where I don't buy many, if any new watches. 2024 was a big watch buying year and I don't want 2025 to be the same. Please wish me luck. I'll probably sell my Bel Canto Azzuro Blue and maybe use the funds to buy a Lumiere Grey dial. CWs designs have gone away from my buying preference sweet spot but I could see myself with a Lumiere if the funds become available.

Haven’t a clue what’s ahead, but here’s what I’d like to see…
A Sealander with consort bracelet in steel and gold.
Honestly, I’d be first on the list for that - rose or yellow.

Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
Should we add to this, now that Loupe 36 is out, a jumping hour watch? I for one have always wanted to add one to my collection so look forward to finding out more.

Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
That’s what I’m thinking! I came here to post as soon as I read it. Can anyone remind me what the collaboration with another maker was that they’re referencing?
Last year we created something very special with another British watch brand. After seeing the reaction to it, …we were inspired to use its DNA in a new timepiece.

@jkbarnes they did a collaboration with Fears on a jump hour watch. That must be the one?

Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
Interesting reading all the chat.
For me personally, I'll have a Glashütte joining my little jumble of watches in the next month or so. I'm still holding out hope for a Sky Dweller from Rolex but if secondary market prices keep dropping, there's something else that will fall into budget so we'll see.
As for CW, I actually really, really like the Lumiere and it's a miracle I didn't order it directly after the preview. To make that model perfect for me, I'd want to swap the bezel for a 12hr second time zone bezel rather than the dive function it currently serves. I'm going to email bespoke and ask if that's an idea they'd entertain.
I am hoping that they've read my feedback in the surveys etc and are working on a dual time module to go in the 12/12x. If I can get a COSC Ti 12 with a dual time complication, I'll drop everything to buy one immediately.
I already have my WYRD Bel Canto and I can't see any updates taking me away from it (once I get it back from it's second crystal replacement due to failed AR coating).
What else would tempt me? Dial side movement furniture (rather than skeleton) will always pique my interest. Ti and COSC are always a winner in my books. Probs not that fussed on a jumping hour, depends on the execution.

I don't remember that, but it's very attractive. I start off saying "not for me", I slowly come round, and my wife says "not another one".ajax87 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 10:05 pm @jkbarnes they did a collaboration with Fears on a jump hour watch. That must be the one?

Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
I worry about 2025 because for me, whether CW or other brands, will probably begin like this...
Last year was the year of selling/culling/consolidating/curating because owning a few watches from 1994-2014 became a "collection" during 2015-2023. I am not alone because I have read on this forum and other forums (both watch and non-watch related) that this now appears to be a trend. I wonder why the selling started in 2024 and people are being more careful in 2025? Is it because the secondary/pre-owned market reset to normal?
As for what I would like to see for 2025 if I decide to open the wallet and make a purchase (or a few purchases)...

Natural ebb and flow of being a 'collector' in my view.nycWATCHnerd wrote:I worry about 2025 because for me, whether CW or other brands, will probably begin like this...

There's a thread somewhere on the forum by @downer titled the seven ages of WIS.
Put it another way, we all get on and off, and sometimes back on again, the roundabout of watch collecting at varying times and intervals.

Re: What’s ahead in 2025?
Looks like my last post above did not age well, I'm already a bit obsessed with the new Dune but can't decide on a version. I hope I can get one in a future clearance. I am a patient guy and I can wait (repeat this to myself a few times a day). Unless they release a limited model, of course.
On top of that, I will most likely getting a new Bel Canto. And I'm very curious what the two teasers (balance wheel and jumping hour) will look like. Just curious, won't be buying anything. Unless I really really like them.
And I also have a Mun Orion Green on pre-order, seemed like a good deal and loved the look and colors.
But hey, at least my newly designed watch cabinet can hold more watches now, so I don't have to worry about storage. For now.
