Hi all, straight up question - what do the numbers mean in the model names? C1? C60/63/65? I’ve seen others discussed too - what’s the secret?
What do the model numbers signify
What do the model numbers signify
I hear that there’s no such thing as a stupid question… I’m happy to test that theory

Re: What do the model numbers signify
No secrets, and the answer is really rather prosaic. There was a romantic notion that the C and W prefixes referred to Mr and Mrs Ward, a.k.a. Chris and Wera.
In reality, in the early days, they got together a bunch of cases and numbered them. Case #5 was chosen for the first dress watch, the C5 which also received the Malvern appellation. Things have developed a bit since then, but the watch families or collections tend to follow a numbering pattern. Anything beginning with C6 is a dive watch or related to dive watches.
Back when they made women’s watches, the prefix W simply stood for the women’s collection.

Re: What do the model numbers signify
Edited this a bit as I see someone else answered while I was typing...
As I understand it, the C1 is the dress line, C6/60 the dive line, C63 sport, C65 vintage C7 motorsport, C8 aviator, etc... but that's not inclusive of everything.
Take a look around the archives. There's a lot of good info there about the watches and the brand ---> https://cwarchive.knack.com/cwarchive/#home/
And here is a link the the area specifically about model numbers: https://cwarchive.knack.com/cwarchive/#watch-codes/

Re: What do the model numbers signify
I had completely forgotten THIS which I did in 2018. It’s a bit out of date now, but it gives an overview if you don’t include the last four years.
As regards the codes for materials, colours and straps, I used to understand the old system but I am completely defeated by the latest one. All the SOKKOs and BOBBOs have me chewing the carpet in frustration.
