I've wondered for a long while what the pattern on my Mk I C8 is; now I know. Thanks.

Whatever Aviation Homage CWL select next it will be good that they follow the train of it being unique, as for example the C11 and C1000 are, and not a homage to an existing style of watch e.g. B-Uhr.

Of the suggestions mentioned above the Vulcan gets my vote, although how about a bit of an unsung hero; the Canberra (high altitude record, long range bomber).

Indeed it was the English Electric Lightening. Interestingly enough they also made on of the most iconic aircraft, the Canberra. The latter being one of the very few British aircraft to be built under license by the Americans. Not bad for a washing machine manufacturer . E E were incorporated into BAC sometime in the early 1980.

I think any of the v bombers or the canberra.

I actually would like them to go down the Bremont victory/codebreaker route. Make a Vulcan watch, charge a decent amount of money for it, and then put a percentage towards the resto fund.

Canberra! Good choice!

BTW, why are most aviation watches related to military aviation? Are there really so few fans of civil aviation? I wouldn't mind an homage to the de Havilland Comet though there were a few problems with the square windows initially.

I might be unpopular in writing this but I'm not particularly drawn to watches that are an homage to an aircraft, ship or a car. Having said that my Copernicus Flagship Regulator is an homage to a submarine (with good reason). IMO there seems to be a plethora of homage watches. :D

In the spirit of the thread I would be tempted by an homage to the Vickers Vimy, only because as a school kid I gave a two minute talk about the aircraft. :D

I expect the early prototypes would have problems with the crystals blowing out?

Actually, poor taste joking aside, their are some wonderful civil aircraft over the years and would like to see something along those lines.

However, it would have to be a better effort than the bluebird, never have I been so disappointed with a watch that's linked to the most captivating and haunting piece of machinery ever!

Back on military aircraft, I would like to see a Harrier watch, I photographed the last ever UK flying day for the RAF Harriers and the sound of 21 Pegasus jet engines all spooling down simultaneously will live with me forever.

I don't think the C11 and C1000 are particularly unique.

The C11 IMO borrows heavily from this Bell&Ross

And the IWC TopGun seems to have been the inspiration for the Typhoon.

On reading this, my thought process went a little something like this:

1. You're right, they definitely have a lot in common...
2. Except I much prefer the IWC...
3. Actually, I really like that IWC...
4. I wonder how much it costs...
5.

Definitely a noob

I'd like to see a 55mm plain unsigned dial B-Uhr handwind watch just like the original. Maybe a limited run. Also with a regular strap as well as the traditional strap that was large enough for a flight jacket.

Trouble is that 55mm is huge on the wrist. I have 8.75inch wrists and my 47mm Panerai is on the verge of being too big. My 50mm flightdeck is too big. I cannot imagine a 55mm watch:shock:

It was, terrible shame to scrap a still very active and effective aircraft.

More emotional for those who'd flown in them though, in conflicts and peace time.

Ah well, most of them live on as parts in the USMC keeping their fleet of Harriers flying for a few more years. I'm glad I was there at the end anyway.
