WatchPro Visits New CW Headquarters

Post by rkovars »

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Rob Corder from WatchPro visits the new headquarters. A predictable amount of Bel Canto talk but the tour of the offices is interesting. They have obviously put a lot of capital into the new space.

Cheers, Rich.

I've had the notification of this from YouTube sitting on my phone for the last couple of hours but have 1. not had the opportunity to watch it, nor 2. the opportunity to post it.

Having had a behind the scenes tour of The Yard in October whilst CW was in the final throws of getting it ready for occupation, I'm eager to watch the video.

^^^^ Interesting to hear, about a third of the way through, that now CW have their supply chain sorted, having initially been 'caught with their pants down', they have a production capacity for 750 Bel Cantos per month.

Otherwise, their new offices are looking superb and befitting a £30M turnover Company.

Interesting, and the new premises look impressive.

When the discussion turned to the US market, Mike observed that US customers differ from UK customers in “a number of subtle ways”.

Anyone care to expand on what he might have meant? I know we have members with experience on both sides of the Atlantic.

I haven't watched the Video yet, but having had my first and impressive ride on an Elizabeth line train, and seeing it Runs to Maidenhead, I think a trip might be on the cards.

Well Steve, as an American customer, I can lend a few observations. Our restaurant menus differ a bit. Some of it may be similar fare but is named differently. Americans tend to disdain mass transit in favor of driving pickups & SUVs the size of a small locomotive. Is a pickup even a thing in the UK as I never see any pictured? We tend to be a tad more violent than our UK friends if homicide rates are any indicator. Not so sure if that’s a subtle difference. As for watch buying customers, I would be interested to hear the subtle differences if Mike cares to elaborate. Maybe a preference more for dive watches & less for dress watches? If you study historical photos from a hundred years ago to contemporary news shots, you might surmise that the American dress codes have relaxed a great deal. Used to be if someone was getting their picture taken, they dressed in their best even if they only owned two outfits. Maybe the same has happened on your side of the Pond?

Wow, CW is only 1 hour direct on the Elizabeth line from my sons flat in Whitechapel. Maybe I'll make it out there next time I'm down after all.

It seems the only conclusive evidence of any differences that have been posted so far is the photograph posted by @atnits. The most obvious difference between the gentlemen shown there is that the Brit is carrying their umbrella, whereas the American doesn’t appear to mind getting wet if caught out by a quick shower.

Therefore my conclusion from the facts presented thus far is that Americans need more water resistance in their watch than us Brits.

Delmar was clearly on to something when he posted this…..
