I agree Guy. The hardware other and the buckle look to have different finishes. As you say existing WG NATOs.

With just a different buckle…

That can be fitted at point of sale, when someone orders a CW/WG NATO.

Is there also a CW/WG watch? I doubt it.

With launch date on 1st December they could be producing Christmas stocking sized NATOs or fancy-box-for-under-the-tree new watches! :D

I dont really consider NATOs, got a cheap-feeling one in the box with my Sea-Gull 1963, but that's about it. However I must say that I might treat myself to one for the Sealander 36mm. Quality looks miles above what I've experienced so far.

You are either very deprived or you have some very big watches.

Over on Facebook, I speculated that this collaboration might be NATO (TM) straps made from #tide material. Someone that had been directly involved with the project said that it was way more exciting than that, but has not divulged any more.

I don't think that a limited edition collaboration similar to the C65 Sandstorm produced for Worn and Wound is beyond the realms of possibility.

Im not super knowledgeable about the material used for Tide straps and its potential, however I did purchase one for my C60 Lympstone and its stiffness does not really bode well for what a NATO strap is supposed to achieve and look like. Perhaps they can be made thinner and more pliable, but if the specs are kept the same it's gonna be a hell of a tour de force to just fit that thing in place :o

I am not saying there definitely is one but WatchGecko has been on a bit of a collaboration tear lately.

Feb 22 NTH Devil Ray collab
Aug 22 NTH Nacken/Amphion collab

It could be just straps. There is also precedence for that too. 2020 saw a strap only collaboration with Vintage Watch Company. What was unique about that one is that you could get the straps as a set (5 in the set).

But I almost feel like CW is large enough that a collab wouldn't be necessary. They could have just sold new CW NATOs by WatchGecko and been done with it. We will see what happens.

Image

Also looks like a C65 in the background.
My vision must be worse than I thought. I've studied this image very carefully and don't see a C65 anywhere.
I edited my post to reflect what I meant! I was referring to the image posted by Guy. Not the one I posted but I was super unclear in the way I worded it. Sorry!

LOL. It's all clear now!

I really don't think this collab is going to be just straps. The C65 (I can see it now!) in the first picture, and the rope and the ?maybe? marlinspike in the second picture suggest a nautical theme to the collab, and NATO straps alone don't make me think of the sea. I think a watch is coming for sure.

It's a new variation of the C65 for sure.

Geckota use a form of the onion hands that CW used to use. My guess is we’re going a bit retro if there’s a new watch coming :D

Can someone explain to me how this countdown works, release 1st Dec, but 21 days to go? I’ve not had my coffee yet so please be gentle if I’m missing something obvious.
