Watch stolen, looking to replace

Post by Robcole »

Hi all, I bought a CW watch about 2009, loved it. Unfortunately whilst having some work done on the house the watch went 'missing'. I really miss the watch and I'm wondering if anyone would know of one for sale. I don't have too much info on the model, other than I think the model number was 1087. It had a white face with a leather strap. Any helpful advice would be much appreciated. Thanks all

Hello and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, CWs come up for sale on a daily basis.

One thing you could do is look through the Archive Timeline and browse through the models released in 2008/2009 and see if you can find the watch in question. I'm going out on a limb here and thinking 1087 is probably a serial number or skew. It isn't a model.

If you can find the model that you had, we may have some suggestions for a replacement if the original can't be located somewhere.

I'm sorry to hear this and good luck, Rob Cole. I hope that the watch does turn up. I lost a watch or it was stolen two years ago and I miss my Malvern C5 automatic Mark II. My watch never has turned up, I hope you have better luck. As I've just posted elsewhere, my wife generously bought me C63 Sealander automatic as a replacement. Especially generous as she hates it when I lose things / have them stolen. It's a nice watch, a bit fancier looking but doesn't keep time as well as the C5 Malvern did.

Rob Cole, I'm sorry for the loss of your watch which, honestly, I think you aren't likely to see again.

In terms of helping you to find a replacement of the same model what else can you tell us please? dial colour? dive watch, chrono or dress watch? Round case? square?

Hi all, I am very grateful for your time in responding to my cry for help, it's much appreciated, thank you.
I've managed to find a picture of the watch, I found it on an old usb drive, I knew I had a picture somewhere. I've tried to attach the file to this post, no idea if it's going to work?

I'll try to describe the watch, just in case I've messed it up:
- White face
- silver dials
- 3 subdials on the face
- Has a CW branding, not the new look Chistopher Ward branding
- Has a tacymeter
- Leather strap
Thank again for your help, I really appreciate it.

The photo is of a C4 Peregrine. It looks like a black strap so I pulled up this variant from the CWArchive.

Obviously not available new but you can find the resale information here. You can see that they do come up for sale with regularity. The trick is find one in the color you want.

I would also be certain that all functions of the watch are working correctly as the movements are no longer available from CW but can still be purchased from some parts suppliers. Of course this would entail some additional costs to get a movement swapped.

Robcole,

They do pop up on EBay from time, do try Greg at WardHoard https://www.wardhoard.com/watches. The Peregrine came in a number of dial colours so you might want to consider whether you want to stay with silver? I have a black dial version.
