Watch size
Watch size
Hi, new member here, but I purchased a CW for my sons 21st and what an excellent time piece, he’s now coming up to 30 and fancies the new C300 pro white face, so my question his original is a 38mm and he has a slim wrist but would like a bigger face, will a 40 or 42 mm look out of proportion
Thanks
Thanks

Welcome. Do please visit the Member Introduction section and tell us about yourself.
Your question is difficult to answer as much is down to personal preference. We have members with smaller than average wrists who like large watches and vice-versa.

Re: Watch size
What model was the original purchase?
The current CW divers visually wear a little bit larger than a standard diver of the same dimensions because of the slimmer bezel giving the watches a larger dial diameter for a given width.
You might split the difference and go with 40 if he wants a little more wrist presence.

Re: Watch size
CW do not list a 42 mm in the orange black hybrid page but do on the bracket page, do they only make 38 and 40 in the black orange strap, as that would be the main strap to be used
Re: Watch size
Generally you can pick any watch, and then change the strap. The only reason you might not find a particular strap is if the watch is made with 22mm or 20mm lugs depending on case size, and the strap is available only in one of the lug widths. You can get third party straps quite easily. 3rd party bracelets are hard to come by though.

I would contact customer service on that one. It seems to me that it might just be an inventory thing going on. CS will be able to help I think.

Re: Watch size
It’s all very personal, naturally; I have a slim wrist at 6.5 inches or 16.5cm, and I wavered between 38 and 40mm for the 300 Pro for quite a while before choosing the 40mm. In the end, I believe I made the right decision, especially for a dive-style watch. I generally wear the 40mm on a bracelet and think it’s perfect, but it even looks a little small to me on the hybrid strap. If I were to prefer wearing it on a strap, I could see going with the 42mm, particularly if I planned to wear something else under a shirt cuff to work.
Re: Watch size
On my 165mm a 38/39mm case diameter watch suits me best. However I have other watches up to 41,5mm which I believe also fits ok particularly on a strap.

Re: Watch size
As someone with small wrists I've found that in more recent times my 2 CWs at 42mm look big on me since I've been wearing some 40mm watches. For me the key is the lug to lug size. I have a 44mm watch which has 47mm lug to lug and that doesn't look too big, yet my C7 and C70 look a little too large with the 42mm and 48+mm lug to lug.
But that is just my tastes over above any actual logic.

Re: Watch size
in my experience the viewing window or the crystal size matters more in the way watch looks, though case size and lug to lug do matter too. So I'd check other watches with similar viewing window size for comparison (don't have a Trident so can't help there).

Re: Watch size
I tried the 300 in 38mm on my 7 inch wrist and found it too small, despite being totally fine with a 36mm sealander and 35mm prx.
My opinion is go with 40mm, it’s most likely to get the best fit. A watch with a rotating bezel usually appears smaller on wrist as the dial is smaller.
