Watch position and timings

Post by bulldog2022 »

My c63 appears to only gain time in the dial down position every other combination to my knowledge it’s looses time. Has anyone else experienced this? Previous watches have usually gained time in the dial up position but this is showing -1 dial up. Be interested in your comments thanks

What is it in the other positions?

How much does it gain or lose overall when worn?

^^^^ Neil,

I think you will find some useful information, from @bulldog2022, in his earlier thread New 63 Running bit fast.

Sounds pretty good to me, a standard movement running within cosc specs.

As with the previous thread, my only comment is that your watch seems to be doing absolutely fine. No need to be concerned about it. I would be happy if all of mine performed as well.

Watch movement accuracy is measured in ranges and not absolutes. Not every movement will lose/gain in any particular arrangement. In a real sense each movement is its own machine and needs to be measured. Very small differences (due to manufacturing tolerances) can effect different aspects of the timekeeping. The movement datasheets are helpful here. For instance a Special (or Elaboré) SW200 is measured in three positions (dial up, 6 up and 9 up). It must meet the specs +-15 sec per day isochronism, max deviation all positions 20 sec/day, with a mid of +- 7 sec/day.

You can see from the two cards below from two of my COSC movements the numbers vary between positions. One tends to be a little slow in a lot of positions and one is fast in all but a few. Positional variance is completely normal and won't be the same from one movement to another even of the same family.
