I could be wrong here, but I am thinking that the C6, regardless of how it gets there, has a slight early lead.

Thanks for getting the thread back on track Kip. Now, as I remember it, DampHarry was wondering which watch to take to Florida and the thread had wandered off to become an encouragement to buy another watch...Kip wrote:I could be wrong here, but I am thinking that the C6, regardless of how it gets there, has a slight early lead.
Take the C6.

Of course - the instant response is Take the C6!, however I appreciate the concern that going to an out of the way place like Florida means that there is a risk that the battery might run out and there might not be a place to purchase a new one.
The answer to that would be to take both watches, but the accomodation might not be secure and the natives prone to pilfering, so that is not risk free either.
The answer therefore is to purchase a mechanical watch - perhaps the C60 - to mitigate these risks.
Or have I gone off track again

A word of warning. Don't wear a watch with an exhibition back. The last time I wore one in a hot and humid climate ie Caribbean, the humidity loosened whatever was holding the back in and it fell out.

Did the crystal fall out of the case back or did the entire thing fall off?

Had a customer bring in a Zenith a few months back that the back crystal fell out. As far as I know, humidity wasn't involved though.
That was the first, and up till now, the only time I had seen or heard of it.

Re:
It was a RLT watch. It might also have something to do with a cocktail of sun tan cream and the odd bit of insect repellant which was on my wrist from time to time.paw3001 wrote:What brand of watch was it because that's the first I have ever heard of that happening

Thanks for all of the votes so far.
My heart is saying to take the C6, however there is a little more to the tale.
Last September I went on the brother-in-laws stag do in Spain, and as I couldn't find my tattered old watch took my Breil, which was a 30th birthday gift from the other half.
As I didn't want to leave it in the room (insecure) I wore it 24/7. Which was great until switching from cold sea, to cold pool, to warm shower. Even though the watch was billed to WR200m it decided to give up, and the other half was not a happy bunny.
So there you have it! If you guys are sure that the C6 will survive suncream, pools, showers, hurricanes (if the weather continues) and anything else that I could possibly throw at it then cool I'll go with it. Although looking at the votes I don't think I have much of a choice.
Failing that if the wheel comes off and I end up with a defunct C6 I'll be looking for a whip round to get another one.
