Yeah, remember that there is a flat rate on the movement and a percentage on the bracelet and case. So, if you have an SH21, you can put most of the value on the movement and get away paying about the same as someone with a sw200 since the only big difference in value is the movement.

Clocks and watches are classified according to the four individual components that are reported to U.S. Customs (case, movement, strap and battery). Since each of these parts has its own particular value (and therefore a different duty rate), clocks and watches are among the most complicated items when it comes to determining tariffs. Each element must be accounted for, and then the sum of the assigned values of the four parts represents the total value of the watch.
Can't really help but be glad that you don't import a Rolls Royce to the US and have to do a breakdown of the clock there 😉🤣

Good luck though 👍

Not only is there an added cost, but it tends to lead to delays as well. Buy a watch $799 or less and you don't have to worry about either. Stick around for the sales and quite a few watches become available under that number.
That’s more or less my position now. Not a dig on CW but more a reflection of my anxiety kicking in over the uncertainties of DHL and customs duties! If I could pay the duties up front it would not be an issue.

Maybe, at some point in the future they will set up a US distributor like Sinn, and Damasko have with Watchmann out of MI. No must no fuss with customs there. However there is sometimes a delay in waiting for him to get the exact model, and then there would always be the issue of the sales, but then the chances of coming in under the $800 mark are increased.

CS at CW said they are soon to implement a system update to account for duties upfront to alleviate this issue for US and other customers.

That would be an awesome and welcome addition.

CW isn’t filling out the DHL information correctly, so DHL contacts customers and runs them through the ringer with shockingly unprofessional processes and communications. It’s hard to believe DHL can even survive in the US after what I witnessed.

That's a very bold and sweeping statement which, frankly, I don't accept.

Answer me this; how is it that, with all the International Shipping to multiple countries CW does via DHL, it only ever seems to carry issues (that we hear of on the Forum) in the US?

Accepted that the US is CW's largest market outside the UK, but this can't be the only reason.

Ultimately, fingers crossed, CW will be able to implement the 'local taxes included at checkout' solution soon.

Let’s not be over dramatic about shipping watches. I make no bold statements about such trivial matters.

DHL sent me the form repeatedly and said the information was not filled out correctly by CW. What else can I say? I’m not slamming or defending anyone. It is what it is.
