Upgraded C1 Moonglow

Post by TheBeatles »

Just received email about C1 Moonglow - preorder end March 2024

I’m a bit confused, preorder for end of this month just 17 days away.

Sometimes it takes ordinarily that long to despatch.

Anyway I would be very wary of paying CW up front these days in light of some recent comments.

It’s a pity because I really like this one, and I’m not a big fan of this style.

Looks very nice, especially some of the new details. The date wheel and lume are pretty cool!

I like it! Probably not enough to replace my OG model though. Although a slightly reduced lug to lug and a bracelet option would be nice.

So "all you need is love...." and a 'ickle bit of faith 'noptimism?

You seem to have options:

1. Press on - which you appear reluctant so to do,

2. Press on with paypal - deferring payments on 0% finance,

3. leave it 'til April and see what happens in the meantime.

I hope you take one plunge or another.

What have I missed? What are the concerns about paying up front atm?

EDIT: just catching up with another thread, is it about delays with the Bel Canto?

Yes, Rich

The Bel Canto and another which I’ve tried to find. I’m sure someone will find it. But I’m sure they’ve paid up front and there has been delay after delay.

I would only buy “in stock” items now from CW.

Having said that, I’m awaiting an Elliot Brown hopefully this month which has been paid for in full since November ‘23.

In my defence, I didn’t do due diligence, and only realised it was scheduled for March ‘24 after I paid for it. Doh!!

There's another thread going about nearly a year's delay for some people's C63 BMF. Not to mention the FLE...

Option 3 it is

Never use PayPal that way. I usually pay with a credit card then clear it the following month whatever I buy. Especially for big ticket items, watches, holidays etc.

It's only Bespoke edition Bel Cantos that have been paid up front. The open series versions are £1,000 deposit (fully refundable) on order and the balance just prior to despatch.

Back to the C1 Moonglow Mk2 - the earlier Mk1 having the Grand Malvern case, with this new Mk2 using something close to the C1 Moonphase case, and for which the two models use the same bracelet.

The other technical specification, which is interesting, is that the Mk2 has an Anti-reflective box sapphire crystal.

Somewhat of a departure from CW's usual flat crystal, and all the better for it.

I think this is very nice. The new stepped case design is a really smart modern design with what looks like a fairly thin mid-case section; combined with the box crystal and an overall height of 12.9mm it should wear very well.

Lots more lume on just about every useful surface! I briefly had a white dialled C1 Moonphase but found the silver hands made if often illegible in daylight and totally invisible at night. I don't think that'll be a problem with this

I really like this! The vibe is more sporty than the slightly dressier v1 Moonglow. Because of this (and the substantial costs), I don’t think I’ll be replacing my v1 Moonglow, but I think it’s a nice upgrade and makes this much more of a potential everyday wear with the proper bracelet (not a fan of the mesh on the original).

I feel like I’m selling myself on the new model…

I think this looks great. I've handled one too, and it really is lovely. The bracelet, in particular, is a great advancement.

However, for the additional premium involved, I don't think I will rush to upgrade my Mk1 Moonglow, as I have other priorities at present. But if, in the future, a Mk2 appears in a sale or some other promotion, I could be sorely tempted.
