Unannounced Clearance sale?
Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
I don’t recall a sale ever having such a long tail. Previously after sales there were still some available on clearance which seemed to primarily be unsold sale items. But a few models from the back of the sofa have appeared now rather than in main sale (unless they went before anyone saw them!). Guessing some are sale returns? A number of BC’s have appeared today as well, and spotted a C60 Anthropocene that hasn’t been snapped up (I have one, great watch!).
So is this just a large number of sales returns? As has been noted, maybe some are the scavengers who didn’t get the mark up when trying to sell on and are returning. But still, numbers seem high.
Not complaining mind you and I’m not in the market!

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
I think it's to do with the sale not providing quite the bargains it once used to. I for one give much more consideration now due to the prices (not a bad thing).
The previous sale pricing (50% off etc) meant they were scalped to the bitter end (Oh Dear aside) because there was always a fast £ to be made.
That just isn't the case anymore bar a few anomalies.

Isn't this a good thing, similar to the overall watch market, that the flippers are (mostly) gone?StrappedUp wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 2:46 pm I think it's to do with the sale not providing quite the bargains it once used to. Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
Absolutely, and I can't see or remember where I suggested it wasn't.
Just my loose hypothesis as to why the sales are dragging on longer nowadays following on from @PGR101s post.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
It appears to be the painted on, rather than the applied, logo. Is the dial text red or the elusive orange (can't tell from the pics)?
Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
Yeah, the blue versions in the sale seem to have the painted logo. There’s a couple of 38mm live now again.
Orange text, maybe my photos looked quite dark, as it’s the blue model:

Plus, I guess, that is more units are being sold, it follows that the number of returns will also increase?StrappedUp wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 2:46 pm I think it's to do with the sale not providing quite the bargains it once used to. Whoever has a hand on the flow of watches into Clearance, the steady trickle of goodies, knows something about human nature and selling. I love it that we aren't just watching a diminishing number of unwanted watches on the carousel.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
Previous sales, 3 years or more ago, would have 30% discount on Nearly New and 50% discount on clearance.StrappedUp wrote:I think it's to do with the sale not providing quite the bargains it once used to. I for one give much more consideration now due to the prices (not a bad thing).

However, back then, there would be a £100/$125 Loupe voucher available for most of the year worth, in round figures 10% discount of new watches.
The current 20% / 40% discount is, relatively, the same deal.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
Yeh, but lets not pretend that £700 for a C60 Pro 300 on bracelet is the same kind of deal as £365 for a Mk2 C60 Pro 600 on bracelet.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 5:34 pmPrevious sales, 3 years or more ago, would have 30% discount on Nearly New and 50% discount on clearance.StrappedUp wrote:I think it's to do with the sale not providing quite the bargains it once used to. These sales still represent good value for those who genuinely want something, but I feel they are a lot less opportunistic than before.
And I'm not sure it could be argued that the price isn't the biggest factor in that.
