The watch seemed even more monochrome in person. The indices were readable but it wasn’t that easy to read.
Exactly, the Dagger looks great in pictures but the reality of it does not work (for me).
I hope they make the Celest (Aventurine) dial in 39mm because that dark interesting dial, silver indices and hands, no 05-60 markers, and a black leather strap would be a great looking watch. Unfortunately the current 36mm is just too small for my almost 8" wrist.

After much experimenting I have realised that I need/like contrast. White or silver dials need dark hands and indices for me (I’m not bothered about lume). Black and blue dials need light/white hands and indices. Lume is OK. I couldn’t wear the Dagger any more than I could wear an Abyss.

I agree Steve. It's much easier when the hands are easily read. I've got a few watches that are hard to read at a glance, and although I wear them, I prefer the contrast.

Interesting that you mentioned the Abyss, Steve. I did own an Abyss before moving it on for much the same reasons that the Sealander Dagger didn’t work for me. The Abyss was a well made watch but even more difficult to read than the Dagger in normal light & virtually impossible in low light conditions. I believe that I have finally learned my lesson that I do prefer contrast & legibility in my watches. They don’t have to light up like a flashlight in the dark but they must be easily readable under normal conditions.

Like others I really liked the look of the Dagger silver although didn’t mind it being a bit understated. I picked up the C63 COSC GMT in the new year, just before the sale (after ruing missing it in the July sale) otherwise was considering one. Same or similar silver dial but it has splashes of blue With the GMT hand, the outer markers between the minute numbers and the batons and the acronym GMT. Still quite subtle as pics show! Think that gives it something extra and I’ve not struggled with legibility.

I like that it is understated but unfortunately my 50+ year old eyes have trouble seeing the dial, hands, and indices. The GMT version is even nicer and sportier but I still could not actually read it.

WxManMike wrote:PGR101 What do you have for a strap on that?
I think I may need one of those.
Thank you!
I’ve got the bader and consort bracelets but managed to pick up a CW blue canvas strap in the sale (swapped out the bronze buckle). I previously had the hunter green gmt on the green canvas and thought it really suited the Sealander so jumped at the chance to buy a blue canvas to complement those subtle blues on the COCS GMT. Shame in my view that they’ve discontinued the canvas straps.

Ugh, I was afraid of that. I'll have to look around for a canvas strap for this, then. Thank you for the information!

I was informed that the C60 Elite 1000 Jedburgh was not supposed to be a published model and has since been deleted from the CWArchive. If you wish to get further information on this model you may contact me by email or pm.
I do maintain, and am building, a complete list of all CW bespoke models. All those that are not "secret" models (usually military) are published in the CWArchive. Although there are still some gaps, my listings are fairly complete through mid 2024.
