Unannounced Clearance sale?
Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
I first thought it may have been a bespoke order that was still required when I saw production as 10/2023 (thinking only a few months ago)...
...then realised we're now in 2025 not 2024.

It is part of a bespoke run. That is what Kip linked to in the archive.

@rkovars
Sorry I should have emphasised the "still required" (by the customer who placed the bespoke order) part of my statement.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
If it was a production prototype the 3 letters would be followed by 000.
This sounds like either a return or an unclaimed unit from the bespoke production run of 60.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
More problems with order processing.
I ordered the Dartmouth v1 NN on 2/20 and it is "being held" because the strap shown is not in-stock. I would not have known but when I called today to request a return for the C3 Grand Tourer which came with a dial logo that did not match the listing I asked about the Dartmouth. I was told, "Oh yeah, that one is being held because of the strap" so I asked why didn't someone contact me and the response was, "not really sure". At that point, I was very frustrated and asked the person to cancel the Dartmouth order.
The reason I called Customer Service today is that when I emailed about the C3 return the other day, I never received the automated email response from them. I work in IT so I knew this was not a good sign. When I asked about it on the call today, I was told, "not really sure why that happened but I will let IT know". They created a new ticket today and I was able to respond so not sure why they did not get my original emails.
Anyway, I am 0 for 2 on NN new models from this after-sale and very frustrated with their IT systems, Order processing, and Customer Service.
I have my Trident Pro 300 42mm white dial purchased last November (not during any sales) and really like it. I am so frustrated I am also considering returning my Dagger/Silver Sealander (still in the box) before the 60/60 window closes and be a 1 CW watch person (forever or until they can get all their business processes and IT systems figured out).

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
Unfortunate about the Dartmouth being held up for lack of a strap. I bought the black dialed Series 1 Dartmouth a year ago on the January sale & it’s one of my most worn watches. I have worn it on the black tropic strap & black vintage leather strap but prefer it on a bracelet. A low profile watch that wears comfortably & exudes a lot of class. The black ones seemed to be more difficult to find than the original blue dial models. Anyway, I am sorry that it didn’t work out for you.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
It has arrived, and my very early thoughts were confirmed. I just don't think the 36mm case lends itself well to the busier GMT model.
Also confirmed that I prefer my SARB021 as a black dial watch.
BUT ... I'm ordering that gorgeous 'Air Blue' GMT on the Consort. I've put on a bit of timber since I last owned a Sealander GMT, so worth having another look I reckon.

My decision to cancel was a mixture of frustration with CW operations and a desire to continue to downsize my collection. Maybe if it was one reason or the other I would have waited but the issues considered together, order cancellation was the correct decision for me. I would have probably liked it as much as you and maybe I was rash in my decision to cancel but I try not to live in the past (even if it was only yesterday).
At the start end of 2023, I had about 30 watches. At the end of 2024, I had about 10 watches. I continue to sell. A watch needs to be super special to be added to my now much smaller watch collection. Interestingly, my Trident Pro 300 white dial 42mm is very special when compared to all the Seikos I have sold and continue to sell because they do not compare well IMHO.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
Nothing wrong with having fewer watches & enjoying the smaller collection more. Watch rotations can become unmanageable as they grow beyond a certain number. Beyond a certain point, it becomes more of a collection with some watches being seldom worn. There really isn’t one shoe that fits all in this hobby. I bought the Sealander Silver/Dagger in the sale. It looked like an understated watch at an incredible price. In person, it just didn’t do it for me & it became the first CW that I have ever returned. Like yourself, a watch needs to be special (to me anyway) & I must really like it for it to remain in my collection. If not, what is the point?

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
This is the crux of the issue for me. I don't like collections. Over my 30+ year watch journey, with the number of watches really increasing in 2015, I realized I am a watch wearer and not a watch collector. Collecting watches (or anything) and not using them makes me unhappy.WileyECoyote wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 7:57 pm ...Beyond a certain point, it becomes more of a collection with some watches being seldom worn...

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
I’m in a similar position but possibly for different reasons. I have no logical, psychological or pathological objection to the notion of collecting, but I’m too lazy and undisciplined to curate, catalogue, document and display. I have some that are rarely worn but I keep thinking of reasons not to sell them. I’m too lazy. One day, maybe.nycWATCHnerd wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 9:46 pm Collecting watches (or anything) and not using them makes me unhappy.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
I was idly looking at the CW website as the earlier conversation on the C60 Anthropocene reminded me to browse strap options for mine - I wear it on the bracelet mostly and have a Zulu diver black/orange nylon for it too. The 22mm black/orange hybrid in the sale has a black buckle but otherwise I’d be tempted (I know I can swap out the buckle but maybe I’m not that tempted
). Thought I’d see what options it came on these days since the strap selection CW offer has been changing. With the change of search options for watches I thought I may have missed it but can’t seem to see the Anthropocene for sale (I did an GMT search too) and the clearance one has finally gone. Discontinued perhaps?

The C60 Anthropocene GMT was retired in January this year.PGR101 wrote:I was idly looking at the CW website as the earlier conversation on the C60 Anthropocene reminded me to browse strap options for mine - I wear it on the bracelet mostly and have a Zulu diver black/orange nylon for it too. Details in the CWArchive.
PS> the black/orange #tide strap is a great fit for it. If you get the available strap with black buckle, I'll swap buckles for a steel one with you.

Edit: 13:57hrs - just realised you referred to the black/orange hybrid strap, whereas I was thinking of #tide. Either will be a good fit. Original strap options may be seen in the CWArchive.

Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
I am torn on my Dagger as well for similar reasons and it may be going back. Except for taking it out of the box this one time, I have not worn it.WileyECoyote wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 7:57 pm Nothing wrong with having fewer watches & enjoying the smaller collection more. Re: Unannounced Clearance sale?
Likewise, I took the watch out of the box & took one picture. I didn’t wear it as I just wasn’t feeling it. The watch seemed even more monochrome in person. The indices were readable but it wasn’t that easy to read. All a matter of personal opinion but I want a watch to stand out more than this one did. Like a lot of things, you either feel it or you don’t. I really did want to like the watch as I was reluctant to send it back. Once the decision was made, it was the right one for me.
