Twelve X
Well here 'tis.
Please don't ask me how exciting/good/wonderful the Twelve X is yet: not just yet.
I know, I understand that it's a tremendous feat of watchmaking, of engineering.
I know, I understand that its titanium lightness makes it a wonderful thing to have on wrist.
I know, I understand that the micro-adjust on the bracelet is a canny thing. Because the mechanism is hidden and because it's a "pull/push" job I find that I'm worrying about durability doubtless without any good reason at all.
I know, I understand that the Twelve "twin flags" dial was a burst of sunshine across watch dial "art": I think it's fair to describe the way dials look as art. Truly I do.
I know that when the C60 Concept was launched my motivation was to buy it and then deal with the on-wrist aesthetics and I think it took me a couple of days of looking at it before we bonded irreversibly.
So I've got my hands on a second "art of engineering " piece from Christopher Ward. I don't have the iconic and signature Twelve dial though: I did have and haven't missed it.
I don't need to rush at this like an excited puppy: I'm taking my time. Today I'll look at the watch, tomorrow I might size the bracelet. I think I'm a lucky boy.
Oh and the box sleeve: is there a Christmas vibe here?

I may have to rethink my watch buying strategy.

Re: Twelve X
Well, I can tell you that five hours of looking at it and thinking about it got me to the point of maybe I should think about resizing the bracelet, maybe get the tools out and set them out for tomorrow morning: screwdriver set, the little orange jig thing for holding bracelets upright edge on, a pair of fine tweezers for manoeuvring the pins, the little white wooden cheese board on which I perform these tasks and of course a CW cleaning cloth to serve as a cushion. That'll do for now.
You know the story about the ring of power which has a will of its own? Involves some hobbits? This watch has a will of its own; why else would I, 20 minutes later, be wearing a correctly sized watch with two and a half links on one side and three on the other?
I might not yet be finished with bracelet adjustments to achieve that perfect ever so slightly loose fit but I tried the push/pull link adjustment for a while so I might revisit. I might hold that back to be my "heat of the day wrist expansion" tool.
Get the light just so and the crystal disappears in the most delightful way.
The bracelet link ends jink and sparkle in a way which to me says "dress watch" which leaves me curious about a strap just to tone it down slightly; we'll see.
Its official: this is MY watch now. CW's 20th anniversary masterpiece.
And yes Mr Kip, Thursday morning without fail.
