@albionphoto , yes, I think the points you made are almost certainly correct. Despite my post I enjoy CW and their styling very much. I'm sure that what you said about amplification is exactly that. People tend to elaborate and communicate far more loudly when they are unhappy. I suppose part of the reason for the post was the fact that I was/am contemplating the twelve X but want reassurance that after spending that amount of money it will be a good product and ownership experience.
It sounds like I hit a nerve, apologies if I did. Exactly what I didn't want to do.

No nerves hit at all. It was a good question and I just thought my thoughts might be of interest. As one of the affected 12X owners I won't be able to tell you about the watch until late November/early December. CW certainly aren't perfect but in this instance I think they did the right thing. Discover a problem, communicate the problem and solution and then "make right" in some way. I wish all brands would act in this way.

Re: TWELVE X DELAYS
I'm also in the same boat regarding the delay.
I ordered within half an hour of receiving the link after the preview, so am intrigued as to how many people will actually be receiving their watches on time.
It's doubly frustrating having endured delays for my C63 Blue Marine, which I received in February this year - 8 months after the June date that was given at the time of placing the order (initially fell back to end November and then mid Feb).
Fingers crossed that there won't be continuing delays with the Twelve X.

Re: TWELVE X DELAYS
Every watch brand has these sorts of issues. You just don't hear about them all.
These type of issues show up most often in the 'pre-order' world that we live in now. CW and a lot of other companies effectively fund production by taking pre-orders for the watches before they are built. This is fine as far as it goes but building stuff is hard. More often than not there are issues and a fair number of these issues result in delays. Even if you have gone through one or two prototype stages there may be issues moving to full production that are unanticipated. If you haven't announced the product, no harm no foul. No one outside of the team will ever know. Maybe the announcement slips a quarter. Not great internally but the customer base never knows.
This is all about balancing of risk. If you don't do pre-orders and go into full production before announcement you are taking a lot of risk that the market will react favorably to what you are offering. If you take pre-orders you are lowering the market reaction risk to yourself because you have hard data of interest but the customer takes on added risk that the product will land on time.
I think, as a buyer, you need to understand what you are signing up for. A pre-order delivery date is an estimate that may or may not be met and you have to be okay with that.

We all wish that such public mistakes didn't happen. Some of them are, however, are common across the watch marketing sphere; Grade 5 titanium is not denser than Grade 2 titanium which is a common mistake.
And it isn’t just in watch marketing. A recent brochure item on the website for a travel company I use stated that a hotel in Puglia (heel of Italy) was a perfect base for exploring Sardinia (450 miles away across the sea!) The MD was appreciative and got it corrected when I emailed him, but I’m not paid to proofread for them, and whoever wrote the copy was clueless about Italian geography.
The forum is a great example of social media amplification. If you are a forum member then you are going to read a lot more about CW issues. It is human nature to complain. If there is a problem you tell 100 people. If there is no problem you tell no-one![]()
Very true, sadly. We live in a blame culture. The only problem being that someone who joined for a good old rant - no, I know people don’t really do that- would probably be even more hosed off if everyone started in on how perfect their own experiences were. But of course you’re right, it’s the nature of feedback online.

Re: TWELVE X DELAYS
I'd probably take the extra strap over a sooner delivery.
Interesting to read what has caused the delay. I wonder how it was spotted?

Re: TWELVE X DELAYS
I have regrettably received further news that my order will be delayed until end of Feb 2025. Deposit paid in May 2024......
I think the offer of a spare strap is reasonable, particularly as it matches the darker metals in the movement. MY son recently had his Malvern serviced and returned in a new wooden box, so he has been super impressed with CW... Credit where credit is due, but the delays in production are frustrating... The company should under promise and over deliver and not the other way round.
The wait continues...
