Trusted Seller
Re: Trusted Seller
Excellent, excellent idea. Not that I'll be using this as part of future purchasing decisions for more CWs, mind you.

This is what I'm here for and very useful first user information. Thanks R

This is really useful information. Haven’t bought anything on this site but just starting to look.

Re: Trusted Seller
Most certainly the tag does not suggest unscrupulous activity. Over the 18 years of this forum and and approximately 17 years since the "Sales Corner" was launched, there have been over 2600 for sale listings. I can't tell you how many watches were sold as that would take too long to count. I can tell you that during this time there have been only 2 incidents that I can recall, and only one was a major issue. Both of these were prior to the implementation of the "Trusted Seller" badge.
Many forums and social media outlets have no method of screening sellers (or buyers) for being trustworthy other than familiarity after a period of time or asking for recommendations. Our method preempts some of that work for you and can instill confidence in a buyer that they will be dealing with someone who has been an active member for some time and has proven trustworthy over multiple transactions.
All members who qualify may ask to be granted a Trusted Seller badge. All those that ask are not granted. It is up to the Admin Team if a member is awarded a badge. All applications for the Trusted Seller badge are verified for qualifications then reviewed and discussed. Approval must be unanimous by the Admin Team.
With all sales it is always buyer/seller beware as the forum, CW, and affiliates are not responsible for anything going awry. We do however make every effort to insure a safe marketplace and instill confidence for both the seller and buyer. Not having a Trusted Seller badge does not mean a seller cannot be trusted. It is simply a symbol that says one has proven themselves as trustworthy to deal with as they have qualified for the badge according to the parameters outlined in the first post of this topic. The CW forum is simply providing a vehicle for its members to sell their watches.
Just a couple of examples: I have been a member/moderator/Administrator for 17 years. I like to think that the members here would trust me if I offered a watch for sale. However, I do not qualify for the Trusted Seller Badge. A former moderator of this forum also applied for the badge and was denied. Not because he wasn't trustworthy, but because he did not meet the qualifications as they are.
The point is that we are being proactive to, hopefully, head off any unscrupulous activity. We do what we can to make this a safe place to discuss watches and, as a perk, to sell/buy some.

Re: Trusted Seller
I'm new to the forum, and really like this idea!
It's a pretty daunting proposition for many diving in and buying at distance from someone unknown!
Now I just need to earn five posts so I can actually view the sales posts..

Re: Trusted Seller
I really appreciate the implementation of the trusted seller. I've also tried purchasing watches via reddit and /watchexchange. They tell you to be wary of people directly messaging you as they are mostly likely scam artists. Only if they reply directly to your post can they be assumed to be trusted. 2 out of 2500+ sales is a great number and confidence boost.
