Trident Pro 3 40mm vs. 42mm bracelet

Post by Dynamite_Kid19 »

Does anybody own 1 of each? Which bracelet do you like better? I like the sound of a 40mm case but the bigger taper of the 42mm bracelet from 22mm to 18mm vs the 40mm 20mm to 18mm. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Be well and safe.

I have both. I more like case 40mm for my wrist.

I was surprised by your comment of ". . . . taper of the 42mm bracelet from 22mm to 18mm." Surely, its 22mm taper to 20mm!

I had to go and check my 42mm C60 Trident Mk3 bracelet and you're correct.

22mm taper to 18mm with deployant clasp then at 20mm. I've not got a bracelet from a 40mm C60 Trident Mk3 to check it against though.

I'll be interested to hear the results.

I think we went through this a year or so ago Guy. We were talking about the C65 but I think all of the bracelets are basically the same except for the end links.

This was a great shot, thank you and thanks to all that responded. The 22mn def has a nicer taper but the 20mm isn't bad. I was afraid it would look too much like a cuff like a Seamster 300m bracelet.

I have a trident pro 3 in both 40 and 42 (and 38 for that matter) and I don’t even notice a difference in the bracelets. Both very comfortable and look great on the watch and wrist. Maybe just get both :D

I don't think I've ever had a strap or bracelet that tapered 4 mm. At first I thought that amount of taper looked odd, but I'm warming to that aspect of many watches. Maybe I wasn't observant enough.

Thanks Rich.

Do both bracelets therefore use the same 20mm clasp?

My Dartmouth and my C60 both have a 20mm clasp.

Classic design... This one tapers from 25mm (22 at the hooded lugs) to 16mm at the clasp. The first time you wear one it looks a bit unusual for maybe 5 minutes, but it’s a very comfortable design choice, less bracelet on the side where your wrist flexes the most.
Edit: my MkII is actually 23mm, 20mm at the lugs, it’s my Mk4.5 that is 25/22 - I managed to mix them up.... however both taper to 16mm though.

One of my initial hesitations in buying a bracelet for my C65 Trident Vintage was that I didn’t think the bracelet tapered enough. With the 38mm size of the watch head and 20mm lugs, I thought the bracelet would look odd without more of a taper. I’m relieved to say it looks just great....although a bit more taper might look better?

That was my thought too without seeing the pics people have posted here and comments. 20 to 16 would be really great but I understand CW using interchangeable parts to lower production costs.
