Travelling to Africa with my W61 Update!

Post by LisaNicole »

Hello everyone  !! So my journey has finally arrived at my fundraising deadline day! Which means I must have the £950 to finalise my place on the trip to Morocco and thanks to all the lovely people who have helped me along the way... I REACHED MY TARGET  :D  !!! I am ecstatically happy. This is one of the biggest opportunities I've had in my life. Not only will it be an amazing experience where I will be able to indulge in Moroccan culture and tire myself out trekking up the 4167m Mount Toubkal, but it also gives me the chance to meet some of the under privileged children that the money you so kindly helped me to raise is for. ChildReach international (the charity who has made all this possible) specialises in building schools and living areas in several countries across the globe to educate children and unlock their potentials, giving children a better start in life. This is something very important to me, and I cannot thank you all enough for supporting me on my journey!
It will be my turn to repay you soon with lots of pictures of my W61 in the many conditions and areas I will be in in Morocco. Altitude, freezing cold and boiling hot temperatures and of course the sandy desert which I am hoping to go quad biking in. I am a thrill seeker so who knows what I'll get up to! My adventure to Morocco is from the 1st September to the 16th September. I'm also hoping to go on future adventures with my W61 like bungee jumping, skydiving for my 21st  and scuba diving... My watch will be going through a lot with me :) .
Until then it's time to prepare! I have a long list of the equipment and clothing I need like thermals, walking boots, sunblock, and really warm clothes. I need the best of both worlds! My poor bank account will suffer as there is a lot to buy  . And of course exercising is a must now. Really need to get mountain ready! I will continue to update you on my journey - training and buying! And hopefully get lots of photos along the way.
Again thank you for everyone who has donated, I couldn't have got this far without your generosity. I will continue to fundraise as nothing makes me happier than working towards a good cause. If you're new to my journey, please don't feel like you have to donate but if you would like to I will link my donate page below:

Thank you for reading and you'll be hearing from soon :)

All the very best. I'm sure the next few weeks will fly in!
I Love ( 8) ) the fact that your watch is going to be put to the test and go through it all with you. Don't spare it! That watch will become very special to you when it goes through the knocks and challenges with you. We will, of course, be delighted with photos, but don't spend so much time behind a camera that you forget to look around and be wherever you are. It's less about the photos of a place, and more about how the place changes you.
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Thank you to those who have supported my stepdaughter in reaching her target. Lisa is a terrific girl with so much energy and commitment. Her insight to help others is infectious and I have no doubt that this is the beginning of many adventures and challenges. You probably have guessed by now that I'm one very proud stepdad. :D

This is great news Lisa. I am so happy you have achieved your fund raising goal. I am glad that we had the opportunity to help a little bit.

I am looking forward to reports during your training leading up to the African trip.

And as a Newbie that does not post a lot it is more likely that you would find it quicker yourself than her.

Thought you might like to know, especially those who sponsored Lisa. I've just learnt that my daughter has reached the summit of Mt Toubkal. I'm justly proud of her achievement as half the party never made it due to suffering altitude slickness and encountering difficult weather conditions. Lisa trekked across the Sahara desert in temperatures of 40C to ascend the mountain in temperatures below freezing. Thanks to all those who gave her support. :D

Indeed I am, crazy how small the world is. I'm enjoying a break in Poland and Lisa is on top of one of the tallest mountains in the world and she was able to reach us via some clever technology.

Thanks Kip, I can't wait to see her, this is just one of the photographs we were shown before she left for the climb. I'm thinking it highlights her achievement.
