One more note, the C60 chrono will probably wear like Rolex Deepsea, at 17.7mm thick....

THAT IS MASSIVELY HUGH

to get a general idea of what we should be expecting, here's a Rolex Sub x DSSD sandwich:

'watches designed by committee, often turn out to compromise - we don't want that'

I kinda thought many past CW designs were a compromise.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

Hopefully the number of people making it clear that 17.1mm is too tall will make CWL consider if there is something they can do, as they seemed to be in denial about it last night in the chat.

They also seem to be in denial about the need for additional proof-reading on the magazine, website and product literature. I was amazed that they turned down the offer of free professional-quality proof-reading from a small number of select forum volunteers. Indeed, I thought Mike was a bit arrogant about this. The irony hit me later on, after that chat, when I was reading the owner's booklet for my newly-acquired C5 Slimline and it was telling me all about the watch being an automatic movement and the need for only 20 winds and thereafter the rotor will wind the watch. I suppose it's not important that the watch actually has a hand-woven movement, it's only the instruction booklet after all. I know that AVO has pointed this out before, but the timing of reading this just after the chat just rubbed in some salt for me. :(

Point well made Steve ; although I believe that "proofreading " is one word and should not be hyphenated (nor should "professional quality " or "newly acquired" :D )

They really need to take this seriously. They are going more up-market, apparently sales are growing, surely they don't want to look slipshod.

Things to change:

1. glaring errors in their manuals (for goodness sake, don't penny pinch and throw your existing stock of those error-ridden booklets away! Spend a little money on printing corrected booklets - your rep and image is at stake)

2. mistakes/inconsistencies on their site (so if the Mk2 Trident was always 43mm as compared to the Mk 1 case, was the C65 always 43mm as well, ie it was made larger than Mk1 C60 from the start?). The site is still not fully cleaned up. The overview page for all Tridents still shows 42mm and it's only when you drill down to the specific models that you see 43mm

3. lack of clarification for older models that buyers might get old or new logo versions (why not just be frank, like the ETA/Sellita thing for movements). Update the pics!

4. NN pics/description to be specific to each item being sold, or at least warn buyers if there are old and new logo versions of the model available . If an item has a small flaw it should be pointed out.

5. to vet their online blurbs for each model more carefully for spelling and punctuation errors (not sure if any are around at this time. I recall pointing out a few in the past)\

PS. I think there should be a hyphen in "newly-acquired" ???

I also thought they were quite rude when answering some questions, especially the c60 chrono as well as the proofreading issue.

"The watch is for manly men". Seriously? 17mm is just too tall for 99% of the community. I understand that it is not a dress watch, but 17mm is like a hockey puck on the arm.

They can do whatever they want of course, but listening to the community, at least one such dedicated as this forum, is never a bad thing.

Haha! You might be right about proofreading, but I defend my use of hyphens in the context given!

However, I notice my phone auto-corrected "hand-wound" to be "hand-woven". Doh! I need someone to proofread all my posts! :)

I think professional quality has no hyphen! :-D

I didn't see it as rudeness, but because Mike was there as well (usually it's only Chris plus the pictures person, I think), the dynamic was different this time with the 2 of them.

I do agree that the chrono is too tall no matter what they claim, but that's the main problem with having such a thick base movement. On the other hand, surely the case could be made thinner. Don't make it 600mm for starters. 300mm will do. Who is really going to use the stop watch function so deep underwater?

There was a throwaway comment about even smaller sizes coming....

Hmmm.

But no smaller C11. Sad.
