Yes, the bronze versions have an Ombre fade, the aim of which is to help the dial blend into the case colouring once it develops a patina and darkens. I think it looks very effective, personally.

I agree, it’s a shame it’s not on the steel versions though.

Very nice. I particularly like the grey in steel.
How does the crystal differ from the previous version which also had a dome or box to it?

Also, notice that the trident counter balance has been removed from the second hand.

Really like the new dial/lume colour combinations - pity CW haven't extended some of that to the GMT - like others here, I'm not a fan of the aged effect lume. I also have wrists that are just too big for a 38mm watch, bring me a 40 (or even a 42mm???!!) GMT variant with white dial and Lume and they can take my money!

I have wrists that are nearly 7.5", so a 38mm case is the perfect size for this style of watch.

I've ordered the grey one on bracelet. Unfortunately, I have to wait a month or so for it. It's a good job that I've got my C12X Steel SE to keep me company in the meantime. :)

The hands look in the photos to have a subtle curve to their profile rather than the sharp crease on the usual trident hands. I had this on my Explorer and loved how they looked.

Good spot Iain. From CW's website;-

I don't get the hate that this style of lume always gets. I don't see it as "aged" anymore. Its just a color that matches the sand theme in this case. I get it if its not your taste of color, but often it gets hate because its fake patina but its just a color in this case.

Much like the Aquitaine watches, CW offer a lot of different options but don’t make the version with all the right elements coming together how I would prefer them.
This is my reaction. I just want some standard white lume. Is that too much too ask?

I love that dial! It really is amazing with those waves.

Two things I must have missed in the presentation: Did they say why the wave dial wasn’t used for the GMTs? And is there something other than the taper that’s new with the straps?

I presume you mean lume that looks white under normal lighting, Drew, as opposed to glowing white when in the dark?

Yes, white under normal lighting. I see the grey has it, but I can’t help but wonder how the other colors would look with white lume.

I’ve edited out part of my previous post, by the way, because I’ve rethought some things.

Anyone else curious to see a variation of that dial on a C60 Trident 300 or the Aquitaine maybe? The waves are beautiful, dare I say stunning!

^^^^ An interesting point about the waves on the dial, for those that didn't watch the Preview a couple of days ago is that, as Will Brackfield explained, the dial in the Aeolian is not a straight transposition of the dial use in the CW x Oracle Time Shoreline last year.

When the dial for the Aeolian was being developed, CW found that the ridges on the waves of the Shoreline dial were, when used with a darker colour for the dial, too sharp creating unwanted shadows.

They therefore sanded down ('cuse the pun) the ridges to create a softer profile that played the light better.

Yes - Will said it looked too busy.

Yes - new supplier, who they said is a step up from the previous.

When I watched the preview yesterday the first thing that popped in my head is they got the dial idea from Tag Heuer. Definitently some similarities there. As for the watch, it looks good. But for me 38mm is too small. If they offered in a 40+ size I might consider it.
