January Sale - 2025
Re: January Sale - 2025
There's a lot of new stuff been added when I just looked.
A BC, and some 39mm and larger watches.

Just recieved one of my orders: Trident Pro 300 38mm and a matching Bader. Both sold as nearly new, but in mint condition!

I guess when enough people complain this is what happens. I just go this email now and I am NOT happy at all

Re: January Sale - 2025
I assume many people are going to get this email in the next few days due to CWL's mistakes (and not our own). I think it is poor business practices and somebody with some influence with the company should let them know about all the bad feedback they are getting here which will soon branch out to other forums and social media.
In your case, they should have let the order go through even if they sent you a message stating that it was a mistake but they were going to do the right thing. Depending on your country's/state's local laws, I would research if you have any legal action because that email makes it clear they have the item in stock, made a mistake, and are refusing to fulfill the order.
I am not sure if you saw it but I found another mistake, placed an order, and assume they will not actually fulfill the order. A few others placed orders based on my post but I get the sense CWL will not fulfill those either which seems a high price to pay for bad feedback.

Unfortunate to cancel your order BUT to offer you a similar Brand New watch at the discounted price is fair enough.HAYQ wrote:I guess when enough people complain this is what happens. I just go this email now and I am NOT happy at all
Your choice whether to accept this offer or not.

Re: January Sale - 2025
Not to pick an argument, but the explanation is clear and reasonable, and the offer to make it up is generous, so I’m not sure why you’re not happy.

Re: January Sale - 2025
I don`t consider it generous or fair compensation. These other colours were on sale too, so if I wanted them I could've ordered those other colours. And a sales agreement is a sales agreement. It`s not like they don`t have the Dragonfly and now they are trying to find a solution. They do have the watch they just refuse to hold their part of the agreement because some owners of Dragonfly have complained. This is not ok.
What about people that maybe have got their Dragonflyes from sale already dispatched? are they gonna ask them to return their watches?
They should apologise to the owners of Dragonfly model, promise not to sell any more online and maybe compensate them with a discount or something. That would've been another, better way of handling this.

Re: January Sale - 2025
I contacted my brother who is an attorney, though not his area of expertise, and he said: it depends mostly on local laws and the terms listed on the company's website which usually can get them out of anything. He agreed that it is poor business practice because it is not like you purchased the watch for $1 which would be an obvious mistake. You purchased the watch thinking it was an honest offer. Either way, you may be out of luck.HAYQ wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:55 pm I don`t consider it generous or fair compensation. Have some Dragonfly owners complained? I've not seen that.HAYQ wrote:I don`t consider it generous or fair compensation. "And a sales agreement is a sales agreement." I think you'll find, it's not.
When you click 'complete' to buy online, you are submitting an 'Offer to Treat' which the seller is not obliged to accept.

Therein lies the problem. After 20 years of being in business one would think they would have figured this out by now.golfjunky wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:03 pmwith regards to CW sales this story is as old as time with them.nycWATCHnerd wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:31 pm I assume many people are going to get this email in the next few days due to CWL's mistakes (and not our own). Re: January Sale - 2025
Another bit from CW’s T&Cs:
3.1 How we will accept your order. Our acceptance of your order, whether the order is placed online or by telephone, will take place when we have emailed confirmation, at which point a contract will come into existence between you and us. If you do not have an email address, we will post the order confirmation to you.
No email confirmation, no contract. If you had the confirmation on the other hand you’re entitled to the watch.
I appreciate the alternative is not one you want to take up, but I do think they have made a fair offer in the circumstances.

I post a few watch pictures now and then to a little Instagram account - 16 followers and counting!

Yes, on one of those FB groups there were few, especially one that was going to send a strongly worded email and also telling them he want to return his Drangofly because they sold Dragonfly online.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:08 pmHave some Dragonfly owners complained? So yes I would say this change is because existing owners have complained.
A much better solution would've been to honour the sales contract and address the concerns of current Dragonfly owners by apologizing, promising not to sell the model online moving forward, and perhaps offering them a discount. That approach would have resolved the issue without reneging on agreements already made.

Yes and...in another instance, earlier in this thread, someone received the order confirmation yet was told they ran out of stock and could not fulfill the order. I do not believe they were offered anything other than a refund.

Now today, Monday, the order is canceled. Disappointed? A little. Not a disaster, however. I figured the Dune line would get much attention in the sale. Apparently the stock got too much attention.![]()
Now to confirm the refund.

Re: January Sale - 2025
It has been taunting me since last Friday...

What is more important having clean clothes or getting a great watch on sale?
(I know what my wife's answer would be)
