Re: January Sale - 2025
I think we have to recognize what has happened in previous sales. CWL does not have adequate Customer Service and Logistics Staff to answer the phones, pack/ship orders, and deal with the regular volume of product sales so during an actual sale they are overloaded.
This is not a criticism but rather an observation that they normally run lean so during the explosive growth of the past 12 months they have been struggling to keep up even in the best of times.
Hopefully nobody has a deadline (milestone birthday, wedding, etc.) and can just be patient which will hopefully lead to a great amount of happiness and/or glee when your stuff does show up.
It's early so this is my moment of Zen for the day. I may not be so kind later in the day...

Re: January Sale - 2025
My Order from Saturday is now shipping while the ones from Thursday are still being prepared. But it’s okay, I understand that they are certainly overwhelmed
Re: January Sale - 2025
Having only just placed an order, I appreciate that I'm at the back of the queue. Also, seeing delivery activity unfold in previous sales, I know that I'm going to have to be patient. Plus, it gives me a few days to make my excuses before DPD come knocking!

Re: January Sale - 2025
It is interesting buying a CW watch having not bought one for years - ordered two and a strap in two orders:
- watch and strap
- watch
according to the emails I have had both orders dispatched and both tracked and both received - in reality I have received only the strap from the first order and the watch from the second - so the first order says complete but only a strap has arrived (email sent chasing this morning)...
As someone who builds eCommerce systems, they have some quite serious flaws with their salesforce system - I received an order number a tracking number and an order reference - no logic between the three (one presumably being DPD's number), when you go into the order on the CW system it says delivered even though it is only partially delivered... those issues alongside a fairly poor system for adding watches to the sale leaving stray watches floating around the system / links that can't be clicked / buttons that can't be pressed / search results just saying Null (not tricky to exclude those!) suggest a fairly poorly set up system - hopefully they might spend some of the money they have been making fixing it
the watches though - still stunning... (well 1 of 2 so far!)

Re: January Sale - 2025
I have worked in IT for 30+ years and my strengths are cybersecurity/disaster planning/cloud/network/server/helpdesk. I have minimal experience with applications/system development but can share that any salesforce (or other system) will only be as good as its developers (systems and user interface).
Maybe you can offer to help them out with their salesforce implementation?

If you do, find out why the site is such a memory hog and slows down Chrome but is fine on Edge (I have found this to be true on other small company websites such as carminashoemaker.com).

Re: January Sale - 2025
Just got my dispatch email for the Sealander I ordered last week. Hoping it arrives by Wednesday as I'm away at the end of the week and the other half would have to accept the delivery!

Yeah the memory thing is quite strange! Nearly killed my laptop earlier, just trying to view a watch on a rubber strap instead of the bracelet!nycWATCHnerd wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 2:53 pmI have worked in IT for 30+ years and my strengths are cybersecurity/disaster planning/cloud/network/server/helpdesk. Re: January Sale - 2025
It pains me to do it but I have been constantly refreshing the website in Edge (rather than Chrome) since the sale started because it is so much faster.jbm90 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 3:04 pmYeah the memory thing is quite strange! Re: January Sale - 2025
Well, a pleasant morning.
DPD delivered 3 watch straps and a watch. A hybrid, a CW cordovan (in a particularly bashed up box) and a vacona.
I am surprised the leather straps have no taper. It's spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar. The lining of the vacona strap is a very nice soft suede. The vacona has different strap lengths to the Cordovan. Maybe some spare Cordovan fittings were used. Perhaps that means there will be no more cordovan straps in future.
For a quick look, I put the strap on a Mappin&Webb, replacing a blue cordovan. Picture below.
Now the watch is a 36mm Halo in black. Smaller than I would normally buy. Still very elegant, and I will have a serious thought, as the small size suits the watch. It wears like a piece of jewellery, with the style of bracelet. Even my wife likes it. Maybe the case is standard but I can't otherwise see why this has a screw down crown. Irritating feature. I can't see anyone taking this into water. Running at plus 13spd. Shame it's not cosc. I also would have liked to see a few dots at the hour marks. The bracelet is clearly the latest style as it has the inbuilt extension. Surprisingly short. Only 7.5inch with no links removed. Just fits me, anyway. .

Re: January Sale - 2025
Well I was only planning on straps but then the C63 in Dagger/Silver showed up on the sale page on a Dagger Seta Leather strap. Add in the very advantageous exchange rate and this is on its way for a song!
