Convince me to buy a CW
Hi all, looking for some advice.
I have a small (7) watch collection, 6 of which are Omega and one Orient. Most of the Omega watches are vintage or neo-vintage so we’re not talking thousands of pounds here for each one, maybe 600 -1200. Obviously that puts them around the same price as a CW.
I’ve been intrigued by the brand for a while and am tempted by the 40mm Trident Pro, and the C60 Atoll. So why do you think my next watch should be a CW and not another old Omega?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
Now, here's a good subject for discussion on a Sunday morning over coffee.
You've made it here, which has got to be good, so what's stopping you? Why not go big and get the Black dial Bel Canto you fancy?
One of our esteemed members, Ferg @MiniMpi went the other way. His collection was exclusively CW for many years, but he's now branched out and got a couple on Omegas.
Why buy a Trident Pro or Atoll? Great everyday watch, will save your precious vintage Omegas from dents and dings. Which one? Personally, I like the steel relief bezel of the Atoll, but ultimately, it's up to you.

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
Are any of your Omegas suitable for wearing whilst swimming?
If not, then buy a CW that will be.

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
Variety is the spice of life. I’ve been trying to avoid repetition of brand, style and function for some time now.
Having said that, I have 4 CWs, but they’re all rather different. I also have 2 Omegas, a 2017 Moonwatch and a 1961 gold watch.
The rest are all different.

I went from a vintage Omega to my first CW. Totally different, but loved them both.

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
If you want a good sound solid watch, not concerned about a logo, CW may be a great choice for you. The cost of a new Omega in the local AD made my eyes water. Less of an outlay here. I haven’t bought one recently but I think you still have 60 days to return it if it’s not for you.

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
I own both a CW trident and an aqua terra. They are great watches in different ways. Whether you stay with omegas or opt do dip your toe In the world of CW you can't go wrong either way. As a day to day watch my trident is brilliant, of course I wouldn't want to damage it in any way but if I did I'd get over it and move on, with my omega I'm always a little nervy about wearing it in some of the everyday situations I find myself as the cost of repair or loss is more substantive. Having said that, the difference in quality between the brands is not as far apart (if any) as the prices. I think you would be both surprised and very happy to own any CW from the range, I know I am. Oh, and once you start just try stopping at one.

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
To be honest, I would never tell someone else how to spend their own money. What I would say though is that the only way to deal with the itch you appear to have is to scratch it. In other words, you will be wondering about CW watches until you buy one. Both the Trident Pro and the Atoll seem solid value for money watches that will give years of satisfaction.. Whatever your choice, I don't think you will be disappointed. So why do you think my next watch should be a CW and not another old Omega?

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left
Re: Convince me to buy a CW
Like others I started on CW and have moved onto other brands including Omega (albeit newer models). C60 is a good call and I have a couple that work nicely particularly as they go well on a more informal canvas or CW tide strap as well as a brecelet. I find my C60 Ombré is often an go to watch as it works for a whole range of activities despite owning many other watches! Agree with @Redpat on less concern when wearing, even though I wouldn’t want to damage! But CW are really good for the price bracket. Although always a risk of branching out from the C60…

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
Get a CW and explore some variety to your daily choices. I have two Omegas, one I’ve owned continuously since the eighties and an older vintage 1030 I acquired a few years ago. Both are nice watches. I got my first CW about 4-5 years ago. The CW watches are a great value for me: style, variety, quality. Consequently I have a range of CW watches among my accumulation of watches. If you’ve any hesitation, new watches are covered by the 60/60 return and used watches - how I started with the brand - could be resold easily.

I assume the 60 day return only works if you don’t actually wear it though, right?

Re: Convince me to buy a CW
Yes that is true. You would not want to resize any bracelets or wear for extended periods unless you were sure you were going to keep it.
You listed a couple of CW divers in your list. I would say that you would be hard pressed to find an Omega diver for £600-1200. Now if you got into Lumiere territory that would be a different story.
Now that being said, here are a couple of articles I have written on why I purchased an older Planet Ocean over a CW. But I also own an C60 Ombré that I absolutely love. I am posting these as food for thought.

Yes, the Seamaster I have is one I’ve had since 1998. I paid about £1000 brand new if I remember correctly. No way to get a proper Omega diver nowadays for that money. The Seamaster is the only diver I have though, which is why I think I’m heading that way with CW

CW watch count - enough to keep me very happy, but always room for more!
