Re: The Twelve X (Ti) - Released
The Consort bracelet was updated yesterday with the new micro-adjustment butterfly clasp so I would think the standard Twelve should be getting it pretty soon.

I love the look except as has been commented it looks a bit lifeless and grey. IMHO a dark red second hand would bring it to life. Maybe for a small additional cost it would be nice if you could choose from small range of colours.
Re: The Twelve X (Ti) - Released
Hmmm...
I really love the 12Ti and I really love the skeletonized movement. They are both wow material. I should therefore love this, however, it has not given me the "wow" effect. I'm trying to figure out why. Maybe the 12Ti is such a perfect mixture of proportions and angles that increasing the dimensions and in particular the thickness, reduces the visual crispness of the original? The movement is visually very, very pleasing, but maybe the skeletonization does not reflect the faceted nature of the bezel? Possibly 150 degree angle flats cut into the rounded bridgework to visually connect the case to the movement could help? Currently, to my eyes, it looks less than cohesive, two good looking elements that do not quite do it for me as a whole. I still would like to have one. Maybe I'll drop by the showroom and see if it wows me in the metal.

^^^ He’s got one there and still thinks it’s 40 mm.
Edit: he says 40 mm in the preamble and gets it right in the specs review. He’s forgiven.
His views on the competition, brand positioning and pricing are interesting. His parting shot about predicted price creep and the likelihood in the future of more £4k CWs than £1k CWs gives food for thought.

Re: The Twelve X (Ti) - Released
I’m well behind on this. Just catching up
Skeleton watches are marmite and not something I’ve ever needed in my collection.
That’s a lot of money.
Who is the audience?

People who like marmite and want a very nice marmite at this price point?

The audience?
Perhaps a few segments:
- those who really like skeleton watches and recognise it as a well executed watch for the money, albeit towards the top end of their normal comfort zone price wise.
- those who were attracted to the brand by the Bel Canto, they probably have many watches already at way over the price point of the BC and Twelve X and just thought - “I like that, I will buy one”.
- those who have owned CW watches for years, alongside far more expensive watches than a typical CW. They know what they like and aren’t obsessed about perceived price points for brands or brand recognition. Having seen the Twelve X they recognise it as a different genre to the rest of their collection.

Re: The Twelve X (Ti) - Released
I think it's a while before there's more watches at £4000 than £1000, but the trend is upwards, and over time the prices will drift over £1000, especially on bracelets. That's not just CW though.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 8:19 am ^^^ He’s got one there and still thinks it’s 40 mm.

Re: The Twelve X (Ti) - Released
My mechanical watch collection is mainly based around Seagull movements as they were cheap as chips and not quartz!
I was gutted to miss out on the Bel Canto blue special edition, timing and price were too much for me at the time. Id still love one, but I will just have to wait.
I ordered a 12X pretty much as soon as the email came through, I saw it, loved the look (though I agree about the splash of colour) and paid my deposit as I actually had the money at the time. How we afford the rest of it is another question, but I have months to save.
However I do confess to having second thoughts now, I later saw the video where it was stated that CW are considering special or limited editions of the 12X. This watch is over x10 more expensive than any other watch I have ever owned (my most expensive watch ever was £375 and Im wondering if I should hold off now and wait for the limited edition versions to come out.
Im sure I will continue to wrestle with this over the coming months, as I do love skeleton watches and would love a nice one.

As to your question. This is a tough one. I handled the 12 X in person just last night and can attest it is an amazing watch. There are a couple of things to consider here and I know that FOMO is a real consideration but:
There is no timeframe for if and when any limited editions will appear. It could be some time.
You might not like the looks of any of the new editions if and when they do come.
The 12 X is a normal production watch so cancelling your order would cost you nothing but time.
There is always the option of getting the 12 X and selling it on if you find that CW releases or someone makes a bespoke model that you like better.
The quandry of every single person that is into watches!

Life is not a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes, playing a poor hand well.

Re: The Twelve X (Ti) - Released
That's a real slick modification. I've never seen that on a butterfly clasp. Do other watch brands have that?. If not, I hope CW copyrighted the design (if it's copyrightable)
