@Amor Vincit Omnia
Steve I think the Explorer is 11.5mm thick.

@welshlad
Thanks Steve a very useful post with those measurements. :thumbup:

I couldn’t really do the 12(36) measurements with that accuracy, using my scratched up ruler. :)

@welshlad

Thanks for the measurements. They were interesting. I measured a few of my watches to compare.

My Speedmaster measures only 34.1mm to the outside of the box crystal, and the dial itself is maybe only 31mm, although the dial extremities may be concealed by the crystal. I think it wears very daintily despite the notional 42mm case size. I measure the bezel at 39.7mm.

My C65 Handwinds are similar, although I think the dial extends slightly more under the crystal than the speedmaster dial does. I always thought the C65 bears quite a resemblance to the speedmaster, the black in particular, although the hands and indices aren't white.

My Omega Geneve which I have always considered to wear very nicely, despite being quite small has a case size of only 35mm. but the dial is about 31.6mm, which is larger than all of the watches you mentioned.

One watch I do have that always seems small is a Versace DV25. It's 40.8mm wide, but the flat crystal is only about 27.8mm, and that seems to be a couple of mm smaller than anything else I have, and bears out what you say. I wear it less than I thought I would.

The Berny railway watch I am wearing today has a case of 39.8, but the dial is a very legible 34.8mm.

On this basis, I would be reluctant to buy anything with a dial much under 32mm. Even my mighty Oris Aquis, nominally 43.5mm has a dial of only 32.6mm. similar to my C60 Bronze Ombre.

I'm sure it's not scratched up at all, Neil.

It has merely 'acquired a patina' :)

I wish that instead of something merely 'small', they would give us something 'micro'... adjust..

I thought it might be useful to take a few photos comparing my Twelve Ti 40mm against my Twelve 36.

Clearly, the 40mm version wears a little bigger than the 36mm version, as expected, but the fumé dial significantly reduces the effect of this. I think the non-fumé dials on the steel 40mm versions wear noticeably larger than the fumé dials.

For my wrist and tastes, I'm very happy with them both. :)

Okay Welshlad, do we need to call an ambulance to take you to A&E? That minty green 36mm Twelve looks like it's about to cut your wrist off. :D :lol: :D

@albionphoto :) Don't worry, I'll be fine. I have quite squidgy arms. It's not as tight as it looks, honest guv. :lol:

Thanks for the photographs both watches look wonderful and with your photos I can remain horologically attuned.

I might have missed it but size is your wrist?

maybe it's just me but the 36m looks a smidgen too small on that wrist...

Wish they made a 38mm. It's the best size IMHO for most wrists

I just saw the Nordic Blue 36mm in Loupe magazine and the photos they took really made the watch look good.
