Another Rare(ish) CW found. . . . . .

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

Oops; what have we got here?

Found* in a local Antiques and Collectables Emporium with box, but no Handbook or Certificate of Authenticity.

It wasn't ticking but the seller arranged for a new battery to be fitted by a local watchmaker, who I happen to know.

It's in pretty reasonable condition for a 7+ years old piece with a few light marks to the bezel but no other signs of wear.

I'd owned a couple of the earlier C8 Pilot, which I quite liked, but when the C8 Flyer was released it didn't impress me. Additionally I'd always 'gone large' with pilot style watches.

As it stands I like the Spitfire clock aesthetic and the 38mm size is quite cool.

One thing that helped me when I was looking at it was access to the Resale and Pricing Information on the CWArchive, which showed me I would be buying at a good price.

Also in the same Dealer's cabinet was, and still is (as at yesterday afternoon) a C5 MK2 that is optimistically priced, even after a reduction.

* It was actually my girlfriend/partner's son who found it, as he'd been in the store a week before with his wife, looking at Vinyl records. Knowing of my interest in CW he tipped me off.

Guy

PS> It's a C8 Flyer quartz 38mm

Out in the sunshine this morning with my C8 Flyer quartz 38mm, having switched onto a black Tiber strap, that I had in my strap box.

NB> The final photo shows the rub mark on the bezel at 6 - 7 o'clock in a worse light than it is.

Cool! I love that these pieces are turning up other than in the hands of CW fans and watch nuts.

I've got one such currently in service at CW Towers and I look forward to receiving it back fully fettled.

I could try using the Emery Cloth I keep for brushing bracelets etc. and give it a distressed look, kind of like the Erbstuck finish provided by Laco.

Now that would be different. :D :D
