Re: Sort-of torn… Opinions please!
My wrist is the same size as yours and have also had the mental 38 v 40 mental debate. Somehow a smaller option always feels more comfortable and in those pictures that looks exactly right
Cheers now, Paul

That size looks fine on you, as others have said.
Also,as others have said, if you've fitted the bracelet and worn it for half a day (including outside) you won't get a full refund if you decide you'd prefer the 40mm.

Wow, thanks for all of the replies!
Since comfort is probably most important to me, I think I am going to keep it. This is definitely the smallest diver I’ve ever had so I guess it’ll take some time for me to adjust to the look.
It’s a beautiful watch though, and I think the design is very well thought out.

Looks OK to me, too. Although I do personally prefer larger in a diver. Bet if you'd posted, "how is my new 40mm 300 looking?" no one would have said, "funny, it wears more like a 38mm". Small margins and all about perception. Your opinion is all that counts.

Re: Sort-of torn… Opinions please!
I have owned an array of tridents in GMT and non-GMT flavors in 38, 40, 42, and 43mm sizes. On my 6.75 wrist, the 43's always seemed a touch too big for me at around 52mm lug-to-lug if I remember correctly. I currently wear a 42mm #tide edition (more on that in a second) and I think it's great, a c65 trident GMT in 41 which is quite nearly the best fitting watch, and I no longer own the 38 and 40mm trident GMT's. The 40mm fit great, but fell victim to a one-in-one-out rule and I felt that the 38 wore a bit small... because of the bezel - the bezel made the dial look smaller.
I think the bezel insert on this new model, which is similar to the bezel on the #tide, is perfect. I've always loved the thin bezel on the c65, and the bezel on the #tide and these new models still look thin, while having an overall width similar to the regular c60 bezel.
I've always generally preferred a 38, 39, or 40mm watch, with the devil being in the details of case/bezel design and lug length. I think Chr. Ward really did all the right things with this particular model, and that 38 looks great on your wrist. Would a 40mm be wrong? I don't think so, but that 38 is great.
While fantasizing about this new line-up, I was think I'd like the blue or black dial in 38, and white dial in 40 as the contrast between black bezel and white dial can make the white dial look a bit smaller in my opinion.

Fitment is everything. You have the bracelet dialled in and the watch looks like a great fit to me. Enjoy your new daily wear !!

Re: Sort-of torn… Opinions please!
I think it looks perfect! Really well proportioned.
If you’ve got a great fit and if you adore the design, then wear the hell out of it!
I have the 40mm 600 on my 7.25 wrist and it wears fantastic, so mathematically the watch is 5% larger than yours and my wrist is 7% larger.
There is a brilliant article that goes stupidly in depth into watch sizing relative to wrist size and shape. I love stuff like this as it makes me feel I’m less weird with my obsessions.

Re: Sort-of torn… Opinions please!
I also have a 6.75" flat-top wrist. With a bit of care I can make most watches fit comfortably unless they are wrist shavers. Size has become a personal choice and smaller watches are definitely more popular now that they were two years ago. I prefer a 42mm watch provided the lug tip to lug tip length isn't excessive. I seem to be a dinosaur in this regard. I don't like smaller watches and won't buy another less than 40mm. That's my choice. As many others have said, if you like the 38mm and it is comfortable to wear why change? Keep it, wear it, enjoy it and post the pictures.

Re: Sort-of torn… Opinions please!
Sorry, these pictures aren't pinsharp and have some reflections. I just took them quickly indoors to illustrate watch sizes.
The CW C65 is 41mm, and I think is just the right size for me. (7.5" wrist)
The Omega is nearly 50 years old and is only 34mm. My wife bought it as an engagement present all those years ago, when that was a normal size. It has had many years of use but it needs a service, and I don't want to cause damage by wearing it when it needs a service. I have never thought of the Omega as being small, although a couple of watches I have under 40mm do feel small when I put them on.
The actual dial of the C65 is only about 34mm anyway. It's just the bezel that makes the difference.
I think it's just a matter of being accustomed to a size of watch. Given that any watch I wear would tend to be between 40mmand 43mm, then anything smaller would look small initially (other than my old friend, the Omega) As much as I like the colourful 36mm Sealanders to look at it, I know they would seem small (so would a 36mm rolex) and I don't want to take weeks getting used to the smaller size.
I doubt it really matters which size of Sealander you pick. If you usually wear 40mm plus watches then a 38mm might seem small. If you wear 38mm's then the 40mm will look big. A 40mm dress watch with a slim bezel will definitely look big compared with a 40mm diver.
No-one will consider your watch small - it covers a good proportion of your wrist. in the end it just comes down to your personal preference, I think.
