DPD say my Trident is delayed, and promised it delivered by 10:30PM, tonight. I asked them to diver it to the local outlet mall instead. Not the best of news but the DPD app is slick!
Beat up vintage Swatch Irony, C5 Malvern (the original), Swiss Military Swiss Soldier Quartz, Seagull 1963, Swatch Blurang Automatic, Swatch Cafe de Flore, Sealander GMT, Trident Pro 600, Fitbit Charge 5. Festina 8810, Addiesdive AD2113 knock off.

I’d be more than happy to 😊

IMHO, it’s the best watch CW has ever done. It’s even better than the Concept, to me. Concerns about poor legibility are vastly overstated. Only in a very dark room will you find it hard to read the time, but that’s not that different from most watches that didn’t just have their lume charged up. In normal lighting indoors or outdoors, it’s absolutely fine and easy to read the time with a flick of the wrist.

What makes this more than “just a watch” to me is the overall philosophy and design of the watch. It’s almost an “anti-watch” because of the total blacked out nature of its design. Want to read the time? That’s too bad! This is something that keeps time very well but the display of the time is not the main priority. Have you seen those super high end watches where you can’t even read the time at all? It’s similar to that in philosophy in that it’s a superb time keeper where the time is secondary. It’s juxta-posed. It kind of doesn’t make sense as a watch and that’s what makes it even more special than “just” a COSC certified dive with stunning build quality, a sapphire dial of all things and a 5 day power reserve.

I imagine it’s not a super hot seller due to the relatively high price compared to the rest of the catalog, but it’s worth every penny. It’s like a halo car that’s really more like a loss leader – it shows the technical and design abilities of a company and shows everyone exactly what CW is capable of. The fact that this was made by a comparatively young and small company is pretty unbelievable.

Why they made it, I don’t know except for the speculation in the previous paragraph but I’m certainly glad they did. It’s one of the very few watches that, when I opened the box, made my jaw drop to the floor. Website pics do it no justice at all. 😊

It looks fabulous- I’ve always been tempted myself but opted to stick with my standard Abyss. Congrats. Contrary to the bright summer colours, I find the Abyss is an excellent summer watch

I briefly owned a standard Abyss, I love the look but probably made the mistake of buying in the winter, possibly would work ok as a summer watch, but definite legibility issues in poor light.

The SH21 version does look superb and perhaps with better legibility that the standard version with more going on on the dial to give a contrast for the hands.

That must have been on the protective film 'cos it isn't there now.
I looked at it so many times and couldn't work it out - there was no visible sticker on the dial or bracelet just something "wrong" at the lugs with random text. Glad I was wrong

You did a great job of selling it as their best ever too but I'm not sure about the least used feature being the most prominent, that being the red power meter. I'd love to see one in person to see if that holds up.

And after requesting DPD divert to a drop off point, they delivered anyway, at 22:00. Having had a few drinks, I think I will hold off opening the box ‘ til tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing the great pics.

Interested to hear your view that telling the time is not an issue with a quick flick of the wrist. Would you say that telling the time with precision is harder? Say for example, a quick glance at the time in your pics show it's about 8pm but whether it's 7.58 or 7.56 is tricker to tell. I get that this is part of the watch design language and a feat of technical engineering to showcase what CW, and sure, it might only be a couple of minutes but for some jobs, it makes all the difference.

It’s not hard to read to the minute. The small seconds, all blacked out, is harder to read.

Just arrived… Can’t see any marks on it, or any alignment issues. Pretty much as new as can be really.

Hmmm…. Perhaps step 1 should have been to straighten the bed, but I digress.

Step 1: Unbox, unwrap and power up. Observation: might be a little hard to find the screw down position when screwing the crown back in. Never mind. If it’s a problem, they’ll fix it.

Step 2: Swap new Tide strap for an identical model I’ve long since worn in.

Step 3: Quick photo, then wear.

The tide strap is £60 to buy, if you buy a watch and steal the bracelet you'll need a strap for the new watch and only have £12.50 to buy one. And instead of spending £122.5 you'll have spent nearly £1000
Okay, Okay - I've ordered a NN bracelet !

I just need somebody to sell me a Sealander GMT now.

:D

Likewise with the GMT version that I bought.

Have you adjusted the bracelet yet?

I have a GMT on the way too…. Hopefully Tuesday all being well.

I’ve not adjusted it. If I’m honest I think it’ll be going back. It’s fine in that light but I’m struggling to read it otherwise Image I love white dials but I think my days of being able to see them are gone. I though cream would have been easier but hey ho.

They’re a lot lighter/thinner than I was expecting though!
