Re: Re: C65 Aquitaine Collection - Released
The C60 lugs taper in more drastically than the C65 does. It may look odd on the 40 mm to have 22 mm lugs making the lugs look too narrow. It could also be they were just trying to shave weight. It shouldn't be too surprising as the old C65 is 47.1 LL with 22 mm width.A1soknownas wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 1:36 pm
The strap width of 22mm is a surprise when the lug to lug is shorter than a C60 40mm. It explains how there is a bigger taper which is a good thing generally. Better WR of 200m I see too.
To add to the overall discussion, the vintage line isn't going to be for everyone. Some tidbits from the meet - MF hinted that there may be more color variations and sizes coming but nothing definitive. Seems odd to me that they didn't launch with a black derivative. He also said that the launch scheduled for later this fall looks to be a good one. I believe he said it would 'knock our socks off.' If I remember correctly.
The bracelet is very interesting. Screws I could take or leave. A taper to 16 mm is nice. Cuts 10 g from the weight. They mentioned that it also has a longer micro adjust and they are going to continue with incorporating the 'half' links. All good improvements. They also said the new ones will back fit MK1 models.

Re: Re: C65 Aquitaine Collection - Released
I remember somewhere France saying that this was a trial balloon of sorts and the model didn't sell well. That made them tap the breaks and plan a longer transition to flags only but he saw that as the end goal. That was a year or more ago I think.

I can tell it’s a CW so the design language is spot on. But call me crazy, I miss the name on the dial. Got so used to it. I hate to use a term like “generic” but right now, I’m not super into it. The all green looks very good, however.

I came to the CWF preview late but managed to drop in on the CWE preview. In that one he said the transition to to the flag logo only was 5 years in the making. He said they wanted to do it 5 years ago but lawyers advised against and encouraged flags and word mark for 5 years before going flag logo only. His comments made it sound (to me at least) that flag logo only will be the standard moving forward.

Re: Re: C65 Aquitaine Collection - Released
To start with the C65 line and end up with these new releases; it's astonishing.
Good luck to CWL (now known as the black and white squares logo watch company).
To start with this;

and then to try and convince people that the new line is a step up strains the bounds of reasonableness.
But good luck to them.

Re: Re: C65 Aquitaine Collection - Released
I'm not keen on the style at all. But for some reason, I do find the blue on bronze COSC model pretty.
Otherwise, I have to say I really don't like all the models with the white sand dial.
I'm much more excited with the mention in the latest Loupe issue that there will be a 36mm C63 Sealander coming, in 6 colour variants.

These look even more gorgeous than the CW website conveys (as usual).... beautiful piecesmvlow wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 2:23 pm There are already reviews showing up on Youtube for those interested to see more "real world" video images of the watches. Here's a couple of links amongst the many that will no doubt show up soon.

I love the bronze, but am inclined towards the GMT, on the basis (hope) that they release an SH21 bronze variant sometime anyway, which would be epic

Did the presentation give any further insight into logo direction across the various models or highlight any particular features of this watch they were proud of? Would be good to hear for those that attended.

Lets see how quickly the others change over then. I guess the C60 won't be too far along.

Will be good to see some real life pics to see how the new colours work in reality rather than in just the CW web images.

He did indeed say that, and I'm taking that to mean some variant with an SH21 inside... but who knows, it could be anything

The Aquitaine bracelet is available to order separately of course (still delayed until June)... might be worth getting one to fit to some of my C65 MK1srkovars wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 2:58 pm The bracelet is very interesting. Re: Re: C65 Aquitaine Collection - Released
He/they specifically said that this was the logo now going forward, although they will retain the Christopher Ward name on the back and/or rotor

That legal explanation made some sense, as I get the feeling they wanted to move some time ago, but were "constrained" for some reason
