A lot of the discussion around ‘Christopher Ward’ text on the dial or no revolves around what we individually like, and pitting that against what someone else likes, and presuming a solution for Christopher Ward the company. We then feel entitled to add ‘I don’t know why they didn’t do it my way’...
A salient point. The forum has always been a little bit like that, and I remember having those feelings of entitlement in my early years here. But when I thought about it a bit more it began to sink in that not every watch CW designed or produced was aimed at me. I have applauded a great deal of what the company has produced, but I have come to accept that a lot of it is not for me, and that’s fine.
The Aquitaine watches are lovely, but they are not for me. I don’t really do dive watches though I like a variation of brands and styles in my box. There are people who think differently, and that is fine. I’m not disappointed by anything in the Aquitaine range, because I was never going to indulge anyway.
I think it’s great to admire without desire, and to be able to walk away without grumbling if some new product is not exactly what you wanted.
Oh, and I like the Swish-only. I found the previous word mark okay. I didn’t like the v.1 cattle brand especially, and I loved CHR. WARD LONDON. Others hated it.
