If I were to address the statement on the OP just on the face of it, I would say I wouldn't know, having not seen or handled the Armani.

But ultimately it depends on what someone really appreciates or finds important, doesn't it?

It's like how for me, as long as a car brings me from point A to B, gives me a smooth ride in the process, has respectable fuel efficiency and looks sufficiently nice inside and outside, I don't really care about the technical specs, engine, how fast you can push it, or the things they talk about in reviews like "torque" (still don't know what that means!).

On the other hand, I'm geeky enough to say that the JJ Abrams Star Trek movie upset me because it totally wiped out the timelines and "history" starting from the classic Shatner/Nimoy Original Series and destroyed Vulcan (and Spock's parents) so classic episodes like "Amok Time" never took place.

And I can say that I prefer Kenny Garrett on soprano sax (and can recognise his playing) to Kenny G on sop sax (yuck).

Now this is interesting, I own a Rolex Sub, an Omega Seamaster Chrono , a Christopher Ward Makiara & a Seiko Kinetic & they all tell the time very well, all within 5 secs a day.

Is the Rolex twice the price better than the Omega, or 10x better than my Chr Ward? The simple answer is No it is not.
But, that also does not mean I don't think the Rolex is worth the money I paid for it, it is for me.

People will just tell you it only tells the time & they are correct. I just smile & say I agree knowing that I get a lot of pleasure out of wearing my watches, but I also know the true value of them which is the reason I bought them in the first place.

So if people tell you their £100 watch is as good as your Chr Ward, to them it maybe, but, remember you know the true value of yours to you.

Reminds me of a friend of mine who drove an 12 year old beat up Toyota after I had just purchased a new a new Lincoln years ago.

He properly stated that regardless of how much I spent, when we were on the highway doing 60mph, we were both going the same speed.

I simply countered that it was a matter of style, character and quality. I kept that car for 10 years and, amazingly, he still had his as well. Funny that when we went anywhere he always wanted me to drive. :problem:

I've asked myself this question at least a million times (and thats only this week :D ).

I have a Malvern that I bought for my 40th birthday and I love its simplicity when it catches the light and recently my friend and I have bee debating the merits of a Rolex Sub - I advocate that I just couldn't spend £5k+ on a watch whereas he is in love with the history and what the watch represents (to me my Seiko SKX007 looks nicer).

We've had endless debates over the ETA movement being in all watches at all prices so why pay more and In the end we've concluded that the pleasure is in the ownership experience.

When talking about cars i totally get it so to the OP I would say don't even try to counter your friend - if you're both happy in your respective worlds all is good 8)
