That's what I think is a bit unfair.
Good point. Even if it's not meant in any way, there's an impression that 'we know something you don't'. I'm sure there's no malice or sense of superiority, but that's just the way it appears.
My sentiments exactly. Those in the know should have kept it to themselves.

'All men are created equal but some are more equal than others' creates a bad taste. I think an error on CW's part, where does it go will I be able to reserve # 57 for all future purchases.

I may be one of those accused of being in the know but my knowledge is confined to what was said at the Middle England GTG. As for my personal thoughts they are just an educated guessed. If that comes across as superior then I apologies. I guess in future I should kerb my enthusiasm and concentrate on the Picture Game. :D

I got excited as the website brought up a match to my search of "10 year anniversary", but no new watches shown. They are toying with us........

As far as I know, no one outside of CWL know what this watch will be, and that includes me. Other than Chris hinting at the GTG that it will be something really special, nothing has been leaked or released.

All I am aware of is that this project has been super secret. Failure to garner hints has been frustrating, but understandable. The staff at CWL have done an admirable job of keeping this watch under wraps.

They're surely done a good job at building anticipation with all this "secret" talk. I'd say mission accomplished!

phone up CWL - give them access to your bank account and I am sure that they will happily reserve as many of any number you like!

Can't say that any of this worries me - as Robin says, they are a business they will take an advance booking if offered - as for the teasing etc. - all part of the fun of the forum - and I expect there to be those who know bits about CWL and future plans which they share / don't share as appropriate - all part of normal life...

Ok Kip but clearly the ability to pre-order a specific # like say #1 of what is likely to become an iconic watch when this has not been conveyed to the forum/public is unreasonable, unsporting, insider dealing whatever you like to call it and its the principle that's at stake here. We don't know much of what is happening at CW towers but I hope they rethink what has happened here however small or insignificant this may appear to the directors etc and gauge the strength of feeling amongst the forum who in the main don't just hang around to buy cheap well made watches, but buy into a perceived honorable and principled company.

When they start making watches that I actually like enough to want to buy - seen or unseen - I might just do that 8)

Sorry Chris - but I have to disagree... they are a business - there is nothing to stop anyone requesting a number now or in the future... #1 tends to be reserved by CWL #13 tends to be popped in the post to a well known chap overseas - other than that, most number tend to be free... I contacted CWL to reserve my birth year serial no. for the C5 slimline - CWL don't guarantee to always be able to do this - especially with a watch like that where there is a choice of face colours and the serial number might have ended up on a colour I didn't want - but they kindly said they would make the extra effort - is that unfair, or just a reflection of the fact that I have spent many thousands with them?

From the moment they announced the anniversary watch, anyone could have phoned up and requested a specific number - to only accept / offer that to a few people would of course be unfair, but there is no sign that has happened - this is something that has happened on the initiative of the customer, why would CWL say no? CWL didn't email specific people and say you have been chosen to reserve a number / nor did they tell them in advance to give them a head-start...

In some ways it is unfair that those at the GTG were told bits that we don't know - but we all had the opportunity to go to that GTG - there is no exclusive club here - no people being told secrets and others not - no one being given an advantage / opportunity ahead of others...

Sorry - not meaning to be picking on just your response - but there have been a few strong responses here which have surprised me... CWL is a business, there is no owners club / special or favoured people - if some folks such as HvS / Kip were to hear about something earlier, or occasionally be offered a discount etc. that wouldn't bother me - it is simply a commercial norm based around customers who buy a large amount of the product - anyone mad enough to spend what they do on CWL watches should be offered something in return!

CWL is one of the most honest and honourable companies I deal with - and I deal with a lot, they go to extraordinary lengths to keep folks happy and I only wish that other companies would do the same!
