OK, enough!

Kip will have to take you lot into darkened rooms for your medicine. After that will be the naughty step.

robinbarke wrote:Well, hmm...I think the progression of this thread speaks more eloquently in support of my point than words could ever do.

At its best this forum generally is brilliant with massive and authoritative contributions from some of its members far superior to any, in my experience, on other enthusiasts sites. But sadly, at its worst the responses can be dismal, rude and as here frankly offensive. In between there are flashes of humour, apposite comment, either supportive or otherwise of an issue adding up to valuable contributions.

Of course no one is going to vote for a fine to curb behaviour. Neither is it realistic to expect everyone to be interested in every thread but I suggest that does not give members the right to pick and choose the ones they trash. For instance, I am not particularly interested in quartz, fancy straps, divers or lug widths but I have every respect for those who regard these matters as important and worthy of discussion.

I am interested in, inter alia, movement quality and accuracy, the quality of case manufacture and of final assembly. There have been some very promising threads recently on these subjects but sadly before reaching maturity have been sidetracked, maybe even accidentally to be charitable.

May we perhaps remember that one person's 'fun' can be another's disappointment.

Anyway, many thanks to Kip for his support, The Laird for his diversionary tactics, Loddonite/Scooter for a laugh on a Monday morning and JMArchitect for the introduction to Eastern literature. I am not sure about his later contributions but he will not be surprised to hear that I am with Prince Charles.
Hmm, Is it me or is the OP frantically back-pedalling whilst trying to save face?

Robin you're not a politician are you?

I agree that, recently, there seems to be a spate of 'baiting' posts where the poster poses an 'innocent comment' that they know will infuriate the majority then sits back and watches the fireworks, only to pop back later and exclaim "Oh no, you misunderstood, I never meant that at all"

Sound familiar? To the poster these are great fun, but they are driving many longstanding (go on,bite on that one Fizzic) members of this Forum away, I'd hate to think what impression this gives to the 'newbie' or 'just visiting' reader.

Rob, I have to be honest, but I have not particularly noticed that trend. There have been a couple of derailed threads but no more than anywhere else, as far as I can see. There is a lot of banter and maybe a bit more OTT language in recent weeks, but I can't see that there is a crisis?

OK, let's hope they're just smarter than the rest of us and are like 'Ninja Surfers', simply paddling to keep station, waiting for the tide to come and bring THE Wave!

More like Pinky and the Brain, "So, Brain, what are we gonna do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the World"

You're just gonna have to decide who's who?

Not that one again! We had that a couple of weeks ago.

Note to the Laird.... I'm only kidding. I've enjoyed some of your recent searching questions.
