I wouldn't worry about it; the man's a bell-end!
Can I say bell-end on this forum?

Before I could answer that, you'll have to explain what a "bell-end" is to us Yanks!

A bit like a horological version of Jeremy Clarkson?

Yup, that was pretty much the comparison that immediately occurred to me too. It works on lots of levels.

Hi Guys.
Never heard of this Watch Snob, but surely are not all of us slightly watch snobs!, else why are we all on this site proclaiming the delights of our watches and especially the Christopher Ward brand?, I am always delighted when someone asks where did I purchase my watch from.
If we are not a little bit snobbish about our watches why do we not just pop out and purchase a £10.00 quartz watch from our local supermarket?
Proud of my watch brands.
Sorry.

I and others here still have such watches. I also rejoice and enjoy wearing a *new old stock* Eagle Citizen automatic mechanical watch that cost less that £20.00. I do not like quartz watches unless they are digital display - is that snobbery? There is no point in being a watch snob as the scale is far too great to compete, you will *always* be out classed by someone else to the point where you'd be more concerned about having the biggest yacht harboured in Monaco than the $$$$$$ trinket on ones wrist.

I'd say he's doing genuine snobs no favours. There's nothing wrong with liking or coveting or owning quality items because you can... and therefore perhaps being a little/lot snobbish. Attempting to cover the boorish, bovine scatology, that seems to be endemic in his articles as snobbery is as false as his supposed persona. Only one word for it.... troll  ... and a poor one at that.

I know a lot of WIS hate him, but I find him not only entertaining, but also knowledgeable. I also think he is misunderstood. Many people quote his "most watches between $1000-$3500 are not worth buying" line and never let go of that. Actually, he likes many brands under $1000 - Seiko, citizen, orient, timex, victorinox have all been mentioned as good brands. It's just that he prefers the higher-ends.

I'm quite happy he approves of Christopher ward.

I'll just admit that he is knowledgeable and entertaining. But if whatever he writes reflects who he really is, this guy has no hope.

Don't be deceived into thinking that just because I do not understand the heritage of a popular watch brand means I will not be able to clinch a deal or be successful in a job application. If an employer hires you just because you wear a "WIS-respected" watch, this employer isn't worth you time at all!

I do agree with him about the size. I wish cw would get their dress watches down to the 40-41mm size like the 39mm malvern. 43mm is too big. In my little humble opinion!
God Bless!

I agree. I'm a big guy and like big watches but would like a true dress watch 39-41 mm. c3 automatic would be prefect. However c9's are a great size for an everyday dress watch, casual dress.

That is why there are the C5 and C3s at 39mm and the C9s at 43mm. Both are dress watches but in different sizes for those that like smaller or larger watches. The C20 is also 40mm and makes a very versatile dress/casual watch.
