A quick google of what a ziggurat is lead me to this quote.

“It is usually assumed that the ziggurats supported a shrine, though the only evidence for this comes from Herodotus, and physical evidence is non-existent ... “

So I suppose it could be argued we don’t really know what the main purpose of a ziggurat is and when you look at the dial of the 12 and think “what the hell is going on there…” a ziggurat does seem like quite an apt description.

Well, I've looked at all the pictures, checked out the video reviews and read through the discussions on here. I really need someone to come up with a decent reason why I should not buy the Ti in Nebula Purple. I've already got two CWs on order with long waits and the colour I want is on a longer lead time than all the other combos. Any other reasons considered

I'm liking the idea of this watch a lot.

For me, I'm not hung up about the "originality" of the design. All watches, clocks for that matter too, are generally derivative from sundials anyway. It is the way the style is executed that either grabs me or leaves me cold. I actually prefer the aesthetics of The Twelve to the Nautilus and Royal Oak! The dial and casework have a level of visual interest that I enjoy. I do really like the Czapek, but not CHF22K like.

Titanium grades are a difficult choice too. I have a titanium watch that has definitely shown some signs of wear from the 15 years of daily use it has so far endured. The bracelet shows some scratching too. More than 316L? Could not say. The pure titanium case may be a little less scratch resistant than the Ti6Al4V alloy, but possibly a little more corrosion resistant. Again, I would not be hung up on it. The darker metal, for me, provides the background to make the dial pop.

I am still trying to avoid spending more money, but seem to be failing miserably!

From the various videos and pics, I’d say I really like the watch. But I can also say, it’s not for me - just not my style. If I was interested in purchasing, however, I think I’d really need to see it in person. I imagine one needs to see the dial in the flesh to fully appreciate and evaluate it.

If I had the transatlantic shipping with attendant duty faff to consider I'm sure I'd be much less relaxed about using mail order to see the watch for myself and I think that puts our 'Murican members on a higher level of commitment when it comes to buying a watch unseen. Bravo!!

I was shocked I fell for it quite so hard. I have never looked at this style of watch and thought it a must have, I think the macro photos teased me sufficiently, then the overall look had me hook, line and sinker.
I think I describe mine as "Crisp" looking, which I cant say for any of my other watches.

BTW I've googled the indoor/outdoor carpet, and I'm still not sure what that is, could you show a photo, please?

I would be interested in seeing pics of the Nordic Blue version. I'm surprised that so far the pics (and therefore the purchases) have only been of the lighter dials. I thought the darker blue looked very nice.

The dark blue and grey are the two I have had in my basket this morning…

Deliberating and still not pressing the buy button on either. So far.

My current thoughts are that I will end up with…

40mm - darker dial
36mm - lighter dial

Not bothered about titanium or steel. But would ideally like the higher power reserve moment.

Definitely not unreasonable! I'm really impressed by the way it has held up, but also like the way the darker shade makes the scratches less visible.

If by "misaligned" you mean the left hand justified name then I believe that is not so as it looks like the name is centre justified (on the bracelet) as used on a few watches dials prior to the total change to the TF logo.

I'm amazed how much I like this watch. It's so much better styled than the PRX around the case shoulders, the dial colours are superb (other than the purple for me) and the hands and batons are dramatic especially the double baton at 12.

It could probably lose the date without any negative effect and why put "AUTOMATIC" on the dial? CW only use automatic movements now so why mess up such a textured dial with unnecessary additions?

I'll probably not buy 1 though as the combination of the darker looking and lighter weight titanium with the white, grey or ice blue dials isn't available.

I'd love to see those shaped hands and batons used on another 40mm watch, an alternative Sealander version?

Indeed it is not so. He wrote “maligned”, a matter of opinion rather than juxtaposition. I misread it too, first time around.
