Good luck with your studies Patrick - I am just finishing my distance learning masters.

I find I am much more discerning in my spending. Just the few key things that bring pleasure. Whether good or bad, watches are a part of that.

All I need to fund now is the attachment of an extra pair of wrists.

It's not the recession that has put the brakes on buying any more watches this year... it's the wife.

She didn't say anything about trades...

rygel16th you have my sympathies. As another Public Sector worker - Civil Servant even - feeling that same sense of dread and loathing. My department is cited as one that will lose 40% or more of our staff. Whilst I appreciate that that means that 60% or so will keep jobs, what with the pay freeze I am being cautious. But I do so fancy the Trident . . . .

(Now only if I could get some one else to pay - cf the Trident issues at MOD and Treasury at the moment :-) )

hmmm...so the trident missiles (not watches!! :D ) we have already, and didn't use even in the depths of the cold war and all the other wars we have been involved with, need replacing with more super duperer missiles which we will again never use.....

We need the best defence system that money can buy so that we can pretend that we're still an important global power.

We were VERY special when we had the Empire, definitely not a shameful part of our history.

I think I would rather have the best health and education systems, rather than trying to keep up with the US , Russia and China in the being able to kill lots of people stakes...

I'm reminded of a quote from somewhere -

If you can read this - thank a Teacher.

If you can read it in English - thank a soldier...
