I guess that's a matter to be discussed between Jas and CW but personally that, to me, is a very Commercial route which I'm not sure Jas would wish to entertain; up to him though.

Thanks Guy

Yes indeed, I don't do "commercial" or aim for high numbers. Nor do I make any commission or money on any of my watches.

I aim for exclusivity, but I recognise that there needs to be a balance here so that genuine enthusiasts can get an allocation.

I am not yet decided on how to to this, but I might offer early access to forum members, as well as increasing the numbers. Every watch I create will be limited to a fixed number though, and individually numbered.

Nothing to do with me really but I like the idea of the AMW/studio underdog way. A time limited release window and fulfil all orders. .

Edit. I see that's a non starter if you don't want an open-ish release.

Yes, a less limited edition like 'The Red One' would give people like me a chance to own one of Jas's designs. All his designs so far have been phenomenal! I'm sure it would be a commercial success. I really hope Jas and CW can persuade each other to make this happen.
Thank you kindly, but the issue for me really is that I have no interest in commercial success. However, see my messages just above, as I do intend to give a much better opportunity for forum members to get an allocation of my next Bel Canto.

I can't say more about the watch yet, but it won't be long now. I don't think this watch will disappoint 8)

Yes, that's not something I will do. It's a great way of achieving maximum sales and interest, and fulfilling all demand in a defined window.

But it's not the way I want to do it as it feels too much like Ferrari's route of launching their Speciale, Pista etc series of cars which appear limited but aren't really.

McLaren did that with 600LT too :( i.e. limited by time. But they did it right with 675LT and 765LT both limited by numbers. So the defined numbers and individually numbered watches route is my preference.

@JasH - Thank you for your email and for your posts here. It is great news that you are considering higher numbers for your next Bel Canto. I'm all in and will be first in the queue!

@JasH

I also look forward to seeing the next venture. It would be useful if you could give us advance warning of the release time to help us at least have a chance. :D

I hope you do actually like the design then :D

Fingers crossed

Yes I absolutely intend to do this

I really don't want a 2 minute sell out again, as it means too many real CW and watch enthusiasts miss out.

I already suspect my next watch (the CF case model, but not by CW) will sell out that quickly, or perhaps quicker, but it's too late for that one as it's 49 pieces and already in final production.

But I can certainly address this issue with my next Bel Canto. It will be 99 pieces at least, and I intend to decide the numbers as soon as I have locked in the design. I've been working on it since the start of the year, so it's almost ready, but I want it to be as perfect as possible. I can't rush the follow up to the Phoenix

New Bel Canto bespoke

Post by JasH »

Just a quick update as I had a meeting with CW to progress this watch today.

The key take-away is that it will be a low key launch, as with Phoenix, so I now intend to restrict numbers more than I had planned to. I will however make some allocations available specifically to CW forum members when it launches.

It might well be fewer pieces than Phoenix overall, but CW forum members will have a greater opportunity for an allocation than was the case with Phoenix, which prioritised McLaren groups (this Bel Canto will not be prioritised to them).
