Yes, it was sent to me by a number of people.

The seller has already been identified. I know who he is, and CW have also identified him.

This being a bespoke Phoenix, not a mass produced Daytona, it's not easy to remain incognito if flipping.

The annoying thing is that an enthusiast who would have loved the Phoenix and worn it, missed out on an allocation just because this flipper wanted to profiteer form my hard work
Did CW tell you who is the owner?

Rather baffling to me! :)

I understand why some folk buy just to flip and make a few £k of profit. Not something that I would do, but each to there own.

However given that the watch was primarily offered to people who were members of supercar club(s) I wouldn’t have thought such folk would have been that bothered about making a few £k on a quick grubby resale of an item of wrist jewellery.

Neil
He isn't a supercar owner. Nor someone who was personally known to me.

He was one of those who found out about the watch on social media and asked me for it (promising not to flip etc etc). I had a number of Phoenix to allocate after the car guys got theirs, as this was my first "general release" bespoke. My first was strictly only for owners of a specific car model (not only brand), but the Phoenix was only "inspired by" the car.
@JasH
To paraphrase Mr Lincoln, you can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some other time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

You did your best, and that's the best you can do. I doubt anyone feels that you let them down. Cheers. :D

I told CW. As I made every allocation, I know who received every single watch. CW knew too of course.

@JasH you are really killing it with these designs! I do hope you never come up with a 36mm Twelve design or you'll force me to burn a hole in the wallet. :D
Thank you

I am not planning on a 36mm though, as I only ever make watches that I personally desperately want.

My next one is well underway though, and it's even more special. But I will make 99, so that far fewer people miss out. It's a high horology piece.

It is a great watch but I can’t help but see this everytime I look at it.

Wow. I'm sure the local Phoenix rugby club or fireflies would be happy to have this watch.

Flippers

Post by JasH »

I've mentioned previously that I am working on my next bespoke after the Jade Dragon. I've been working on it since February.

Recent experiences with flippers have meant I will narrow who I will allocate that watch to (3 Phoenix flipped so far, and one of the sellers also flipped a VULCAN XII today). Whilst I easily identified all 3 flippers and blacklisted them from any future bespoke from me, I need to be more careful with who gets the next watch.

So aside from people I know personally (car and watch friends), I plan to prioritise allocations to this forum as it's where core CW enthusiasts are, and it's also easy to see people's general history (posts and length of membership).

On that note, here's a little information about my next bespoke.

It is still being worked on, but the changes I’m making are now even more extensive. So I can’t see this being ready to launch until early Winter.

It is based on the Bel Canto but is very different to Phoenix (not merely the colour).

There is a 80% probability the watch will be inspired by my first Ferrari, and will therefore be vivid red.

Looks like Andrew Morgan beat you to the punch on doing a red one (albeit not rosso corsa)

There's no issue there. Andrew's watch is absolutely lovely.

1 Phoenix available

Post by JasH »

As the designer, I believe there may be one Phoenix available new at RRP.

If anyone with good forum history is interested, please send a PM to me.

I forgot to update this post, but the (unworn returned to CW) Phoenix has gone.

When I went to Christopher Ward's showroom last week to pick up my Dragonfly Bel Canto and to see the new Bel Canto Classic, I mentioned to Declan that the Dragonfly and your Phoenix are my favourite versions of the Bel Canto.

In the last few days, I've been searching for everything I can on the Phoenix to remind myself of how truly stunning that orange dial is.

During my search, I noticed you had a Phoenix for sale a few months ago. I also spotted another for sale on Reddit. Both sadly gone now. I will continue actively searching in case another Phoenix ever comes up for sale in the future.

All your CW designs have been stunning. I'm looking forward to more information on your Ferrari red Bel Canto.

I hope that some day, I will have the pleasure of owning one (hopefully more than one) of your Christopher Ward collaborations.

Would you and Christopher Ward ever consider a "Christopher Ward designed by Jas" open series (or at least less limited) so more people like myself could enjoy your designs? I'm sure such a series would be a winner for Christopher Ward.

@Watch21 - At this stage I feel that your chances of getting a Bel Canto Phoenix are very slim.

@JasH created the watch for members of a Private Enthusiasts Group he's involved in, and it was part of the deal in being able to buy that buyers undertook not to resell.

A couple of loose cannon slipped in who have resold, but Jas has taken action on this as mentioned in his Flippers post above (which you've perhaps read). Mine is certainly NOT for sale.

Are you thinking of something in the manner of the AMW 'Red' Bel Canto?

I guess that's a matter to be discussed between Jas and CW but personally that, to me, is a very Commercial route which I'm not sure Jas would wish to entertain; up to him though.

@Bahnstormer_vRS - Many thanks for your reply. I know my chances of owning a Phoenix Bel Canto are slimmer than the super slim Richard Mille RM UP-01 Ferrari (the thinnest watch in the world), but they were also slim a few months ago and 2 lucky people got one.

Yes, a less limited edition like 'The Red One' would give people like me a chance to own one of Jas's designs. All his designs so far have been phenomenal! I'm sure it would be a commercial success. I really hope Jas and CW can persuade each other to make this happen.

I just emailed you a few minutes ago, in response to your email. Then I saw this post.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

There are definitely more watches coming. The next one is very low numbers (49) so will be very hard to get it's and not with CW (as CW don't do carbon fibre cases), but I am doing a Bel Canto spiritual successor to the Phoenix. I will sincerely try to better meet demand with that watch, as I am aware the last release I did (Jade Dragon) sold out crazy fast in less than 2 minutes. I want to try to at least give CW enthusiasts here a decent opportunity for an allocation, and am considering higher numbers of this next watch.
