Wow how can I be ahead of the main man! You should be proud Jas it's fantastic - I love the way the colour changes under the light. Just need to take my time and resize at the weekend!
I'm very happy to hear you love the watch

The good news is that mine arrived today :D

CW did manage to effect the changes I requested to the prototype

The production version dial is deeper brushed, but the effect is only visible to me under a loupe. My son can see the deeper brush lines with naked eye though. So it looks marginally nicer than the prototype.

The case back is also improved, in terms of the finish surrounding the Phoenix motif.

I hope everyone is as pleased with it as I am.

Congratulations! This is a lovely Bel Canto and I'd say the only one I've actually wanted to own (but then with a couple of orange watches in my small collection that may be unsurprising).

Jade Dragon

Post by JasH »

JasH wrote: Sun Apr 28, 2024 10:33 pm

My previous 3 CW bespokes were targeted to car groups to a greater or lesser extent, but Jade Dragon is not. So I intend to offer it to CW forum here and on FB too, as the same time as the car groups. I expect this to be announced in May, but it's limited to only 30 pieces.
As promised.

Just an fyi, Jade Dragon will launch tomorrow at 21:00 UK time. I will launch it here and to the CW FB group, as well as to those who purchased Phoenix or VULCAN XII.

It's limited to 30 pieces.

Clearly the original buyer was an enthusiast.

^^^^ The seller is most likely going to be excommunicated from buying any further Bespoke editions organised by @JasH

But then I guess, if he/she achieves their aim and doubles their money, they probably won't care. :grumble: :grumble:

Rather baffling to me! :)

I understand why some folk buy just to flip and make a few £k of profit. Not something that I would do, but each to there own.

However given that the watch was primarily offered to people who were members of supercar club(s) I wouldn’t have thought such folk would have been that bothered about making a few £k on a quick grubby resale of an item of wrist jewellery.

I think he's just run into really bad luck and needs money. Everyone has hard times and needs cash when down on their luck, but this does also seem greedy. Had he just needed the money then CW will take the watch back for a full refund. But if he wants to take a chance to sell then he makes an extra £3k, that seems risky to me.

The issue is, will anyone actually buy it? I've seen a lot of limited (e.g gold dial) Bel canto watches sit on chrono unsold for months, and they are still there! The flip hype has passed.

And even if he doesn't sell he has given up his ability to order any special editions from Jas that maybe going as well as I wouldn't be surprised if he is also blacklistes by CW to ensure no other limited editions of any kind.

Then there is the added social stigma that comes with it should he ever be in a watch group event or any of the supercar events.

Poor man.

Yes, it was sent to me by a number of people.

The seller has already been identified. I know who he is, and CW have also identified him.

This being a bespoke Phoenix, not a mass produced Daytona, it's not easy to remain incognito if flipping.

The annoying thing is that an enthusiast who would have loved the Phoenix and worn it, missed out on an allocation just because this flipper wanted to profiteer form my hard work

He isn't a supercar owner. Nor someone who was personally known to me.

He was one of those who found out about the watch on social media and asked me for it (promising not to flip etc etc). I had a number of Phoenix to allocate after the car guys got theirs, as this was my first "general release" bespoke. My first was strictly only for owners of a specific car model (not only brand), but the Phoenix was only "inspired by" the car.

Not cool, but I guess that's it for him regarding future limited releases. I had a chance to buy the Phoenix but gave up so somebody else can have a go.

@JasH you are really killing it with these designs! I do hope you never come up with a 36mm Twelve design or you'll force me to burn a hole in the wallet. :D
