The most beautiful CW?

Post by Amor Vincit Omnia »

This is a very subjective question, obviously, but it was prompted by a comment I saw this afternoon on someone’s SOTC thread, where another member had referred to one watch in particular as the most beautiful CW he had ever seen. I thought it might make an interesting thread without derailing anyone’s SOTC.

Obviously, I’m a bit of a dress watch fan, so lovely as some of the other watches are, such as the C70 chronographs and my wonderful Sealander GMT, they don’t really get a look in.

For a long time this was my front runner, the C5 Malvern Mk1:

For a while it was superseded by the MMXV Slimline FLE:

But earlier this year I finally got my hands on the C9 5-Day Small Second Chronometer. Game over (for now**)! :D

** Never say never, but given the current production trends I’m not expecting anything as exquisite as this to appear in the near future. Your mileage may vary. Eye of the beholder and all that.

This is such a subjective thing. I find it hard to name just one because I can define and apply “most beautiful” in a number of different ways. If someone said the C60 Concept was the most beautiful CW I’d see why they were saying it and might be inclined to agree. But at the end of the day it’s hard to see a diver, and a skeletonized one at that, as epitomizing beauty.

I love the clean lines, the slimness, and the simplicity of the 595, but most beautiful? Probably not.

I’ve got to agree with Steve here. I think the C9 5-day SS might be the most beautiful, with the C63 Auto in white a very close second. It’s beauty is to be found in its GODO DNA.

I own a rose gold CW with a dark dial and a C65 classic, the mix of these two is improved by having a more interesting dial and a colour matched date wheel - I may never have seen one in the metal but I'm sure it's a contender.

I’d probably have to say the C9 SS SH21 for its simple yet elegant beauty

In my small collection of 3, I have to give my White Dial Trident the nod.

Are those date windows wedge shaped, or is it an optical illusion? If they are indeed wedge shaped, that’s a wonderful little detail I never noticed before.

This is my most beautiful watch

A few years ago, a very dear friend lost her battle with breast cancer and this watch was bought in her memory. She does not get worn more than a handful of times a year (on her birthday, the anniversary of her passing and other significant dates) but she is always worn with pride and the happiest of memories.

Keep well,

C

They are indeed, and it’s a sublime touch :D

I also love the sevens using the “euro” style (with a line across the middle, as shown on the stainless steel C65 SH21 photo)… makes me smile when I see them

Edit: Just remembered that of course the Aqua Terra also uses a wedge shaped date (albeit vertical)… I seem to be drawn to this style :problem: (apologies for non CW photo!)

The most beautiful CW?

Well? The C60 Concept has been mentioned and it is certainly a very stylish, arty, beguiling watch but I'm not entirely sure beautiful would be an apt description.

Anyway; a couple of photos to help you decide.

As to beautiful?

That is in the eye of the beholder, but by common consent of several forum members, who've commented recently in the CW of the Day thread, and to my mind it has to be the C900 SPC Rose Gold.

I was also going to include the Concept… to me it is indeed beautiful, but perhaps “industrial” is closer… although I love that style 8)

As to the C900… yes, this is indeed supremely beautiful

I’ve lusted after that C65 SH21 LE. Id agree that it’s a beauty!

These two have always caught my eye. Id say one of these takes the cake for me in the CW world. Just simply beautiful.
Pics stolen from the reference gallery. I unfortunately don’t own either :(

I would have to agree… for simple elegant beauty these C1s are indeed lovely and I’m happy to own one too… in fact this is the watch I plan to wear on our wedding day later this year :D
