We know there are new C65s coming out. And we know this new line called Aquitaine is coming out. I’ve seen references in other threads to the upcoming C65 Aquitaine. Did I miss something? Are the Aquitaine line and the new C65s one and the same? I assumed this Aquitaine line is new and distinct from the C65s.

^^^ It’s a change of name. Until now the C65 has been part of the Trident family. It is now getting its own name with this update/revamp. That’s all.

Ahhh, OK. That makes a lot of sense to give the line its own name. On a slightly disappointed note, I had been excited about the idea of TWO different releases this month - how ambitious of CW!

Surely there is more to it than just a modest update.

Why would you have a special zoom presentation for not much at all?

I never said modest, Dave.

In fact I did say earlier in another thread that this release is going to get a lot of people pretty excited.

Only a few more days to wait. :D

When you also said it was "getting it's own name with this update. That's all.", I took that to imply modest.

I have always been inclined to understatement. Much more elegant than hyperbole.

CW have been doing these sort of events for many years now. They used to be a general chat livestream which was later transcribed for those who couldn’t make it. I think early drawings for the C65 mark one were first shared on one of these.

They then moved to general chats about upcoming watches where Chris Ward and Mike France shared their own take on things and answered questions from those on line. These were recorded and you could watch it back later rather than rely having a transcription to go off.

More recently they have done these for a few launches now, I think the Sealander had something similar with Mike France last year?

That’s not to say this isn’t something to not be excited about, but I wouldn’t read anything in to the fact this is happening that would imply this watch is something extra special.

They did one for the Sealander range last spring, and one for the Concept and Colchester in the autumn. Both were very well received, and I think we will probably see more of them going forward, even if and when the physical GTGs resume.

Does that mean they will no longer have the signature second hand? That's a pretty major change in my book.

That could well be classified. Unless anyone knows differently of course.

At the very least I hope we will get a definitive pronunciation of “Aquitaine” from CW when the line is launched. ;)
