^^^^Mind you this is 20th century pronunciation. Elizabethan and Jacobite pronunciation might well be different.

My favourite is not a place name, but a surname. Featherstonhaugh. It’s pronounced Fanshaw. As you do...

With respect to Uttoxeter, there's an urban myth that it's pronounced Utchitter by locals.
There has to be a grain of truth in that. I grew up about 15 miles from there and my grandfather (1897–1974) always pronounced it that way. The North Staffs/Potteries dialect was his natural language.

It looks thick ! (in a way the C65 never really did IMO)
I can't make this evenings reveal but am looking forward to seeing this one!

I only have the hand-wind C65. Maybe someone has a current C65 auto and would post a similar side-on shot for comparison? But I’d have to agree, it does look a little thicker.

Hmmmm. It might be optical illusion. The dome looks to be a more pronounced angle and the mid line brushing makes it more pronounced. Also the bezel is taller.
Tried to match the angle with my C65 GMT.
EDIT - a little better on the angle

I work in Stoke and can confirm that you are indeed correct, Steve - some (not all) locals do refer to Uttoxeter as Utchitter.
Another strange one was close to where I lived in Kent - Trottiscliffe pronounced 'Troslea' by the locals.
Time flies whether you're having fun or not. The choice is yours.

I would say when you see the article hit W&W we are set. The Fair is running Friday-Sunday. So there must be a press blitz scheduled for tomorrow.
