The dream started here: roll on Thursday

Post by tikkathree »

This is where it started for me, this dial.

Big chunky hour indices, a bit of lume. Nothing particularly fancy, no polished facets, no razor sharp wotsits, just a funky style all of its own. Not Habitat, not Early Learning Centre, not Biba, just different. The bezel? Honestly I have no idea how practical it might be in any position involving submersion in water but do I do like the way it ties with the brushed/polished/blacked bracelet links.

T3 speaks to me of Collaborations, of awards maybe. The bracelet says "get it right butterfly, no scope for instant expansion on demand".

Do I care about shortcomings? Because it was my first dance with the brand I'm largely blind to shortcomings but why oh why can't quartz running second hands hit all sixty marks? There's something about "beyond the wit of man" but, like a favourite dog might have one teensy issue, (see how I'm playing it down?) perfection is an aspiration and we can't always get there.

I'm wearing this black dial today and tomorrow it'll be a different dial colour. Who knows about Thursday, it might even be a C6 Kingfisher Auto kind of day.

I was lucky to see the preview and I know that what's coming will reinforce not diminish the affection in which I hold the C6 Kingfisher.

You probably know I agree with you wholeheartedly on this one. I’ve been away but got back this morning and my yellow quartz went on my wrist - my OG CW, my old faithful.
Like you I am planning on mixing colours this week. Give my FLE a break. Unfortunately I won’t be opening my wallet right now but that’s due to funds needing to be reallocated rather than lack of desire!

Just a thought. My post wasn’t complete without a picture, was it? ;)

That's a great piece of writing @tikkathree :D
It encapsulates a whole journey - yours and CW's. Bigs up a watch long since come and gone without settling for being nostalgic. Encapsulates my mad watchie swings between need for fondness and need for perfection (which do I actually need?), and back again (and again  ). In fact you may just have summed up the reason we keep looking, keep watching for the next preview...

I wish all watchie writing was like this!
