I've got the red/black Pro and the red/white GMT.

You can't go wrong with either, the ceramic bezel is incredible. Looks and feels great.

Any opinions on the rubber strap vs bracelet?

Always buy on bracelet and sort out straps, rubber or otherwise, later.

Most cost effective way to buy.

I dislike watches on bracelets, both on me and on others, so I have no use for them. Is that what you meant by an opinion? :D

It's an opinion yes, but probably not one I have much use for. Was that what you were after :)

Hey, as opinions go, yours is at least as good as mine. Fishman asked and I gave. Now he has yours, too.

That doesn't seem pertinent, but perhaps I am missing your point.

You are most welcome. To drill down a little, to my eye a beautifully formed watch can stand on its own, and the strap is in a position to augment the watch by contrasting or highlighting the detail in texture, form, material, and color. A heavy link bracelet does the opposite, and spreads the form around the wrist, so the watch case itself tends to disappear. Whether you like that effect or not will probably dictate whether you are willing to put up with the pros and cons of bracelet vs. strap.

Rubber straps are not such visual treats, either, but their purposefulness lends a certain character. Since you didn't ask about NATO or leather, I'll pass on those, too.

As to functionality, the bracelet will clearly last longer, and it could be argued that it moves between work and dress more seamlessly.

Secondary points against a bracelet: they're easy to scratch (unless, like AVO, you only wear them 8) ), and they're dangerous to nearby finishes. SInce part of my professional life involved the restoration of vintage Mercedes, I could accurately tell whether the owner sported a bracelet watch on his wrist by the condition of the wood at the bottom of the window on the driver's door. I have never used a bracelet, but I assume they are awkward when typing on a laptop?

Which part is the wrong part... or to you mean a watch head that has capsized?

Wow. I thought this would only get a few replies but it took on a life of its own. I'm glad this thread could help some others out. :)

Thank you all very much for the advice. I am still looking at the Vintage. I've thrown my hat in the FLE, so I no longer desire the C5. The C5's case it very impressive but the FLE with its brushing would be more acceptable for day to day wear; the case is very much uniquely CW. I wasn't aware that the C65 cases are just the standard Trident case with a new finish. That's fine though as they were great cases to begin with, and the new finish is handsome.

There is still something about the Vintage on bracelet that keeps me coming back; though. I was just taking a look at the gorgeous Longines Legend Diver, and the dial has a heck of a lot going on; plus no bracelet option. I love it but the minimalist look of the C65 is actually why I think it's cool, and it really reminds me of an old Rolex Explorer. Depending on how the FLE works out, sooner or later I gotta try it on wrist.

Definitely the C60 300 with red bezel and rubber strap. It's so beautiful I'm considering using it as my beater instead of a black automatic. Don't know if I prefer the orange or red bezel though.

Ditto this.
I rarely actually wear metal bracelets of any type (I find them quite uncomfortable on my skinny, bony wrist) but I do occasionally swap them back onto the watch if I need to dress it up a bit for smarter occasions. They are therefore good to have on stand by in the box.
