Well, I thought I'd bought this watch, it was a CW and I bought it through EBay, half-fearing there'd be an uplift in the total price due to admin/customs/handling fees/scrotum squeezing.
Then I got this from the vendor:
"I'm sorry, I'm forced to cancel your order because the bureaucracy for shipping outside the EU is too complicated.
I have already canceled and initiated the refund.
I am very sorry."
Hand on heart I don't know just how complicated it actually is but clearly it's just too complicated for one EBayer.
The watch is in Italy and I guess it's staying there.

Based on my wife's recent bad experiences sending (and receiving) presents to (and from) her sister in Spain, I fully understand their reluctance to ship to the UK.

So presumably the lost vendor means shipping anywhere outside of the EU? Not just to the UK.
I guess so but whether the issue was
1. An ordinary soul who changed his mind,
2. Issues with exporting small s/h goods from an EU country or
3. Issues with exporting the same to GB specifically
I'll probably never know.
I keep checking for the watch being relisted and there being an "exclusion zone" stated but nothing as yet.

Not really. It's the same for any country outside Europe. It's just the UK and Europe are still getting to grips with the new legislation and tariff codes and EORI numbers involved.

I've purchased plenty of watches and other items from the UK (pre and post Brexit) and other EU countries. As I understand it, exporting from he EU is no different than exporting from Canada: Take packed item to post office. Complete customs declaration form (or complete online and print). Attack declaration to package. Ship. That's it.
