Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:29 am It's quite a fine watch, not for me at the current time as I have my Bel Canto Phoenix and, besides, my watch buying train is in the station up against the buffers, but (I'm going to say it ahead of others who might be thinking it) what a let down :( :(

All versions, regardless of being on strap or bracelet, are on pre-order for end-December '24. :o :o

Why not release it beginning of January '25 and have stock to ship immediately?

Cash flow and it'll mean they are effectively building to order, perhaps? :-k. :-k

Was this mentioned in the preview yesterday?

Guy
I don't believe it was mentioned Guy. Perhaps fulfilling some Christmas purchases is the reason for releasing now? Though it's a high risk game if there are even minimal days and "end December" doesn't guarantee Christmas delivery either.

Great watch, but (thank God) - it is too 'classic' for me. Otherwise i had to buy it.
Third Bel Canto would be too much i guess :-)

Small note on pricing. The Classic is GBP 215 more than the original on the Bader bracelet but GBP 300 more on the leather strap. I presume the driver of the difference is the quality of leather (Fine Italian vs. Vacona) and the new Bader buckle and deployment clasp - but it seems like a lot.

Response to my comment & question above from JM on the CWE Group;-

They pretty much are building you order. They said in the preview presentation that they are expensive to produce so the lead time is very much a cash-flow decision. Ultimately a very sensible one as well as it protects the company against holding extensive highly expensive inventory but they could have been more open and actually made more of the fact.

If they openly said that each BC was made to order, not only would people understand the lead time better, but it would actually become something of a selling point in itself.

I don't do dress watches.
I don't like Roman numerals.
I like lots of lume.

So why do I really really like these? The green especially.
Cheers now, Paul

Regarding supply, one thing I picked up was that CW are/have been “re-engineering” (I think that was the word) the supply chain, as there had been problems with delivering sufficient quantity and quality in acceptable time-frames.

Going forward, I think MF said they would be capable of delivering 750 Bel Cantos per month (tell me if that’s wrong). I assume that applies to the range, not just the Classic.

Initially, I thought the gold, but I would have liked to see a flash of colour on the beak. I thought the silver could really do with another colour on the exposed movement parts, say gold although maybe they just need to be polished steel.

So it came back to the blue and green, most likely the blue. However I just don't understand why the blue and green don't have self coloured hands, to aid normal readability. I will probably wait and see if that sort of variant appears for the moment.

Also I didn't think the watch had been released yet. I can only find it by searching for classic. Is there another way?

When I heard about the release of the new Bel Canto I thought with some fear: what if I like it more than the one I've had for only a month? Having two would be a bit much though.
Now that I saw him I can say that I breathed a sigh of relief.
In general, I'm a guy who likes classic things, which is why I can say that the idea of Roman numerals is perfect, especially in combination with the guilloche dial.
But, and I admit it's strange, the guilloche dial is not my cup of tea.
Although the two match perfectly, they are still not to my taste.
But hey "De gustibus et coloribus non disputandum"!
Anyway, the Bel Canto classic remains a watch with a superb classic design and which will certainly find its fans.

@Bahnstormer_vRS
Guy IIRC MF indicated that there was an initial supply at launch ready end of November.

All sold already, or spin?

He also indicated they can produce 750 BCs a month and current wait list from order to delivery is approximately 6 weeks (subject to my comment above about having an initial supply of the classic).

Personally I prefer the previous one, I don't think I own any watches with roman numerals I just don't like that look but I think if I was pushed to have one this might be it :)

The dial looks great in parts but I personally think it looks too busy now I like the simplicity of the previous one but would love to see this dial on C63 as a nice dress watch style like the Celest!

Like that the lume has gone but is it more legible? Reading the time in the dark with some light reflection the previous worked this one I'm not so sure?

Strange to me it looks like it might wear slightly smaller now with the curved crystal and more focus on the time?

They answered this last night about the non-coloured hands on the blue and green. They found that readability in certain conditions made it too dark if the hands are coloured, with the blue/green dials in the background. since there isnt any lume, u wouldnt want to compromised readability in darker conditions. A light hand against the dark background is more readable... thats what was explained 8)

asqwerth wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:03 am Watching the beginning of the preview last night where Mike France was talking about how the watch to be unveiled was a story of 2 old fogeys and wanting a more classic look, I began to realise that that was indeed what was going to be revealed! Couldn't believe it.
I'm an old fogey, though not as old as them, but I still like the new one better...more "classic".
