Re: The 20-Year Overnight Success Story of Christopher Ward
Yep, I thoroughly enjoyed the article. There were some interesting bits near the end about the Bel Canto, about it’s initial issues, and that they’re now delivering 750 of them per month

Thanks for sharing the article. It is an engaging read and paints CW in a very good light, noting the successes and the journey as rather remarkable for the achievements thus far with hints of more to come.

Re: The 20-Year Overnight Success Story of Christopher Ward
I think there's a tourbillon coming. Possibly very soon. There was a cryptic clue about a new watch coming with Esquire having a play with the word "balance".
And I'm sure I'm not the only one that has been invited to attend a reveal of a special edition of one of CW's most technically complicated watches this Friday? Can only imagine a special Bel Canto (do I cancel the red one?) or the skeleton. Currently my money's on a 12 tourbillon. Or else CW has done bel canto with more than just a jump hour... but where would Esquire's hint about "balance" fit in with that.
CW's invitation for the online event on Friday:
"we want to give you the earliest access to this special-edition reinterpretation of one of our most intricate watches before it goes live to the public."
I think this is what Esquire means. Now, here's hoping for under €5k and something I can actually order. Wouldn't it be something if it was the blue Bel Canto returning for a limited run!

@Moneypit - an interesting analysis.
Of course there are a number of clues to future releases circulating but really, it's all a bit of a guessing game.
The new 'balance' was featured in the Drawing Board of the latest Loupe magazine and discussed on here;- Loupe: Release 2025: Drawing Board, so unlikely to be the subject of Friday's upcoming preview.
Worth remembering also that whatever is shown and discussed in Friday's preview will be deemed as Confidential until the watch or watches is / are released. The specific terms being;-
By registering and accepting this invitation, you agree to abide by the following rule:
You must not discuss or show elements of the presentation on the forum (via pm or public post) or ANY OTHER internet platform until AFTER the product(s) have appeared on the CW website. This also applies to any information you might see on any other website or social media platform.

Re: The 20-Year Overnight Success Story of Christopher Ward
I'm sure that may be the case - but no such notice was posted with the invitation, at any stage of the booking process, nor with the confirmation. No terms and conditions or NDA required confirming either. CW might want to fix that if it thinks one was included.
Even if it goes without saying. Did it need saying?
But we are all just speculating here based on information publicly available, no?

Guy do you know what type of customer has been invited to the preview?Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 8:26 am @Moneypit - an interesting analysis.

I have not seen anything about it.
Presumably folk who have bought more than 20 new watches with CW and who have been customers for more than 10 years?

That can't be it. I meet those criteria and haven't received an invitation. I'll have to try harder.

You need to be "one of our most valued customers"
I fulfilled that criteria by buying a trident 2 years ago and more recently stumping up the full price in advance for the Red One.
It's probably that last part! Anyone that can drop €4k on a watch with a week's notice .

Re: The 20-Year Overnight Success Story of Christopher Ward
My Christopher Ward count must be above 20. Who knew. I thought it was 17-ish. I did get the invitation but it's on the 25th and I can't go as the better half has surgery that day.
Going back to the Esquire article it misses out the fascinating fact that Mike France does love a flipchart. Well, according to Jorg Snr, he does. Enjoy the preview and hopefully the end of October will be really special.

A really good article that. Quite insightful and deservedly positive.

Thanks for highlighting this. Interesting read! Especially hearing about how things work behind the scenes, and the culture - sounds very different to the rest of the industry, unsurprisingly!
