I received my watches during the week. Ordered on Friday and arrived in Aus on Wednesday.

I had some concern about the C5 being too small at 38mm but this was not to be the case when I strapped it on. The large face prevents it getting 'lost' on my wrist. I really liked the understated elegance of the watch looking at the pictures and seeing the real version I was not disappointed. Its really whet my appetite for a Harrison too. 8)

The C70 RAF Ad Astra was more of a speculative buy. My father was in the RAF so its in my blood and the watch being half price it was an easy decision. This one was a real surprise when I put it on and I don't think the photo's online do justice to how striking this watch is. For a fairly sporty design its actually quite stylish making it a very versatile piece of decoration for the wrist. Its also very comfortable on the wrist so it could end up getting much more wear time than the C5.

My only real reticence is that the deployments felt a touch more flimsy than I expected. That could just be based on my own expectation and these could last as long as any. Time will tell on that I guess.

In summary my first experience with CWL watches is extremely positive. For my next purchase I'm tossing between the C8 and the Steinhart B-Uhr. Still in the fence with that one.

Cheers,

Chris..

Both are great watches. The C8 case feels far smaller (thinner) to me than the Steinhart, making the watch perhaps a bit more versatile. The Steinhart is a big, chunky watch, with a thicker strap.

In the end it's a tough decision. I'd get both. :)

And you pretty much have done, Mr downer!

Glad you like the watches, Lordy (even the C70RAF!) and I can only agree with you that it's a tough call between the Steinhart and the C8. For my money the uniqueness and thinner profile of the C8 won out, but you must decide for yourself!

Thanks for that Downer - something I had been wondering about was the comparison between the C8 and B-Uhr. I think I will take your advice and add a Steinhart as well!
